Can you freeze a store bought cheese cake?

I was told I will be getting a large cheese cake of assorted flavors, really large one. I am the only one here that eats cheese cake so I was wondering if I can freeze this, how and for how long? Thanks

PS I got one as a gift a few years ago and I gave it away which I shouldn't have because the person that gave it to me is family and wasn't happy so, I don't want to do this again.

Sure.A lot of companies sell they cheesecakes in the frozen section at stores. If it was me, I'd package it each piece separately. I'd probably wrap each piece and put it in a small plastic container. Take the wrap off when it's still frozen as taking it off thawed cheesecake could be messy.

Yes, we get a cheesecake sometimes from the cheesecake factory and I slice it up and freeze it in individual pieces to eat later.

Re: Can you freeze a store bought cheese cake?

I know the Junior's cheesecakes can be frozen and re-frozen....that said...I would not be happy for someone to send me a large amount of anything that has to go in my freezer...I have a small refrigerator....(I live in an apartment) I sure don't want to give up a lot of ""real-estate"" to a desert...even though I liked it...

I have enough of a struggle to get meat...etc in there without worrying about a ton of cheesecake....lol...especially when you have to wrap each piece and put them in containers...I wouldn't have that kind of room in my freezer...

When I made out my thank you card....or my thank you phone call...I would politely tell that person not to do it again....or I would halve the cheesecake and give it away...

Cheesecake freezes really well.

If you get the current copy of Cooks Illustrated, they have a great article on baking your own to get that Junior's style crust and top. I've been making these for years as gifts which is funny, as I don't actually like cheesecake (too rich.) But I used to get handed "punishment" at work if I messed up that was to bake the Boss a cheesecake. He'd come over to reprimand me for some crime and he'd be salivating at the same time. It was hysterical (my crime, by the way, was not setting up a network and skiving off to see sick husband in hospital, who was freaking out. I'm bad.)

cut it up into pieces that you will eat and wrap them up and freeze. Will last maybe 6 months.

Or give it away and don't tell anyone, if you don't want it.

I am not a fan of giving someone something they don't want, (but that is a for another thread) lets not go there

Thank you, am sure I will give some away and freeze some in small pieces. I really prefer a light soft fluffy cheesecake I use to make but lost the recipe. It was very light, very fluffy and if I remember was a no bake one but wouldn't say that for sure.

Would appreciate if anyone has a recipe like this, light fluffy cheesecake, almost like a whipped fluffy cream with canned fruit on the top.

Think again before ordering another from The Cheesecake Factory. I just got one and it was about 7" in diameter and awful. They've sold out to Harry and David which is where mine came from.. I did get two of them as they sent the wrong one first then resent the correct one. Will not order again.
