Can you freeze a ham?

I bought a ham at the grocery store last week and DH decided to put it in the freezer, now it is rock solid. Usually I just keep it in the fridge for a week or two until I need it b/c it lasts quite a while there.

Now I'm defrosting it in the fridge. Any ideas if freezing will have a negative effect on it?
