have to buy a quart always, only needed a cup for buttermilk pie..can I freeze in 1 cup portions for doing fried chicken, etc?

Thanks, I was thinking ice cube trays! But wasn't sure it wouldnt separate when thawed....

I put it into small Ziploc freezer bags in 1 1/2 c portions because that's what I use most frequently. They lay flat and thaw quickly. I learned that years ago from someone here on the forum. Thank you to whoever that was :-)

If I had leftover buttermilk, I'd drink it. Early in my life mom taught me of the joy of a glass of cold buttermilk and a big hamburger. Delish.

Yes, I buy it by the qt. Put in Glad containers. Freeze, just put in biscuits, pancakes, never would drink the stuff. LOL

I bake a lot and was tossing buttermilk all the time. Then I found powdered buttermilk. It works great. I know King Arthur Flour has it.

use to be able to buy at walmart too.
liked the fresh better.

I freeze it too in one cup lock and lock. After it thaws, it seems to separate into a watery part and the milk solid parts but it cooks ok.
