@Flatbush I have an old DLC (with the two black toggle switches at the. bottom) 14 cup that weighs a ton.  It's out in the garage  and still comes in for big jobs!

We mostly use the one you have and keep it under the counter on a pull out. No, you can't beat those babies!

I have a big food processor, and I'm glad I do for bigger jobs, but lately my go to has been my manual Kitchen HQ Speed Grater for quick shredding.  I ended up buying several of them for Christmas gifts.

I had one from the 90's and it was so heaving big I never wanted to lug it out of my cabinet. Lately I'm thinking about getting a smaller sized one primarily for doing pie crust instead of by hand with  pastry blender, but then I think, do I really need it?  Glad you are enjoying yours!

@Sooner Yes, the old one was very heavy. The base was metal the new one is a lot lighter. The two containers are each made of a different plastic(?). It is so strong and easily cleaned.

Also I don't have to jam the containers in place, they easily slide.

And, what really surprised me was how quiet and seamlessly it moves from one mode to the next.

The main test was when I sliced tomatoes. Every slice was perfect..not a one was squishy. AND, you can regulate the depth of the slices...1-9

Sorry for the sermon.

Flatbush enjoy your new food processer .I have a 14 cup kitchen aid food processer and I bet your cuisinart is better. When doing somethings the blade will gradually lift up so I have to take cover off and push blade down or it comes up and stops. I have to empty everything out of iit fix blade and put food back .can be very annoying. Good luck

@Pooky1

That would be a pain. Can you call an 800# and explain what is happening.?

Could it be a manufacturing problem? You certainly know more than I do about it, so just an off the top of my head suggestion.

Re: CUISINART FOOD PROCESSOR..love it

I don't use a food processor much, but when I do I have a Wolfgang Puck one I really like.  No complaints, and it is so much quieter than the GE that was given to me and my 1st husband for a wedding gift.

For slicing, I mostly just use a knife, but I also have a mandolin, so I never use my food processor for that.
