Ran out of Crisco, so I went to the store (Vons). A can of 48 ounces was $13.xx Seemed pretty high to me, so I then went to another store (Smart and Final).
The price there was $10.49. Still high, but better. So I bought it.
Anyone else seen the price in your neighborhood store? Don't know if I am out of touch or unrealistic.

I had no idea they still made it.
Just curious ... what do you use it for?

You could probably buy a cheaper brand, but, IMO, it wouldn't taste the same.
You can't beat chicken fried in Crisco. Yum.

I just checked our local grocery store, 9.89. Walmart 9.00. There is another thread about vanilla frosting with Crisco, so I may buy a small can. The sticks were 7.79. I have never purchased this (I’m certainly NOT the family baker 😂).

I bought some for my dad a couple weeks ago and choked at the price.
I haven't used the solid Crisco in decades but Dad uses it on occasion.

I haven't bought Crisco in 30 years.

Vegetable oils have been very expensive in my area for some time now. Store brand for a small bottle can run $8 in some stores (store brand). Name brands like Crisco and Wesson are even more. Used to be able to get store brand for 99 cents when on sale.

I get my Crisco at Wal-Mart but buy a small can. The only thing I use it for is pie crust. And it makes the BEST pie crust using the Pioneer Woman recipe.

I only buy a really small can and it lasts forever!
Those prices are crazy!!
I don't fry foods.
I use 5T for my pie crust. The recipe use is a combo of butter and shortning.
It is really flaky!
I just checked my Walmart and a 48oz is $9.00

@Group 5 minus 1 - I am 67. I have never bought Crisco in a can.
That's no reflection on the original poster. I just have never been much of a cook or baker. I would have no idea what to do with canned Crisco.
I do always keep a small bottle of Crisco Vegetable Oil. I have been in my new house for a year and 4 months. I know for a fact I haven't used it since I have lived here.
