I used to buy a jar of cranberry sauce from Williams Sonoma. We LOVED it! !I found their recipe online years ago and I now make it myself. It is sooooo easy and delicious!! I highly recommend.

I love cranberry sauce and enjoy it all year long thanks to the amazing freeze-ability of cranberries.
Here's my simple recipe:
Cranberry Sauce
2 C water
1 1/2 C sugar
2 12-oz pkgs cranberries (fresh or frozen)
1 cinnamon stick
Zest of one orange in 4-5 long strips
Bring water and sugar to a boil in a large saucepot over medium-high heat. Add cranberries, cinnamon stick, and zest, stirring to move zest under/within the berries. (Make a mental note of how many strips you added.) Return to a boil. Reduce heat to medium low and boil for 10-12 minutes, stirring occasionally. Carefully remove cinnamon stick and zest strips. Pour cranberry sauce into a bowl, cover, and let cool completely at room temperature; serve or refrigerate for a chilled version. Makes about 4 1/2 cups.
(Note: Neither the cinnamon nor orange flavor is strong—these items simply add a depth and brightness to the sauce. I've tried it without them and it just isn't the same.)

If you live near a Trader Joe’s, they make a delicious orange cranberry relish. It tastes like what my mom used to make 🙂.

ALWAYS a hit and very easy to make.
Sunshine's Cranberry Sauce
1 regular bag of cranberries
1 cup water
1 cup sugar
1 container or bag of frozen raspberries in syrup (if you use fresh raspberries or regular frozen raspberries without syrup add an additional 1/2 cup of sugar)
Juice of one orange or tangerine (about ½ cup)
2 large granny smith apples, peeled and diced
Splash of grand marnier, if desired
Place water, sugar, and cranberries in a pot. Place on medium high heat and bring to a boil, stirring frequently. Once the desired thickness is reached, allow to cool. Add remaining ingredients and combine until well mixed. Refrigerate for at least two hours. This easily doubles or triples. You can also add a little bit of the orange zest if you like.
This also tastes delicious over vanilla ice crea

We love cranberry sauce. Mine has very little sugar, mandarin oranges, some of the juice, pecans, and some ground ginger, and I make it in the microwave the day before. Everyone loves it.
It's rich, but it's supposed to be more of a relish, not a side dish. DH, of course, loves to add it to leftover turkey sandwiches. And when I inevitably make that "Thanksgiving Dinner" casserole, I add cranberry sauce, too.

My relative makes cranberry sauce with orange juice & nuts & other ingredients. She gives me some every yr as a Christmas present.
@skatting44 Is that the stuff where you grind up oranges, cranberries and nuts and about 20 pounds of sugar? You don't cook it.
I could make myself ill eating that! I love love love it! It is an obsession with me. I can't have it in the fridge very long. A drop of Grand Marnier doesn't hurt it either!

Am not sure how she makes it . It doesn't taste to sweet , so maybe her recipe has less sugar . I'll have to try the Grand Marnier - wich I love in my Margaritias

There are some wonderful recipes for cranberry sauce, but I'm quite happy with just the can of whole berry cranberries!

@ScrapHappy wrote:I never had cranberry sauce until last year at Thanksgving dinner at my MIL's. I really liked it! I'd really like to have it for Thanksgiving this year, I'm hosting at my house. Besides the canned stuff, I don't know any other kind. I can't ask my MIL because she ordered from a restaurant and she lives far away. Any ideas?
Hi ScrapHappy,
I love cranberries. Love unsweetened cranberry juice too!
I'm not ashamed to say, shout
I LOVE OCEAN SPRAY CANNED JElLIED CRANBERRY SAUCE!
Any time of year. I love the tartness.
I always serve OC Canned Thanksgiving and Christmas if I'm making dinner.
I also make cranbbery sauce: I follow the directions on the bag of uncooked, plus I add at the end mandarin orange sections, pecans, sometimes candied ginger and coconut.
Geez, I wish I had a can of OC right now. Will have to ask hubby to pick a few up at Wegmans tomorrow!
