COOKS ESSENTIALS AIR FRYER SET OFF MY SMOKE ALARM

I was making chicken legs and put it on a 30 minute timer...........still not done so put for another 15 minutes-well..........smoke started pouring out like crazy and set off alarms.

I then put water in the fryer and it did not work-still smoking................what to do?

The chicken came out fabulous-crispy skin and moist inside-but I can't deal with all that smoke.

@catlover  I did chicken before also.  I think chicken is the worst for smoke in the air fryer.  Can you do it on a patio table outside?  We opened the doors and windows and put some portable fans on around the house.  The next time I used mesquite or other flavor chicken wings and drumettes, the frozen kind.  They came out just marvelous.

Someone had an air fryer chicken recipe with picture here not long ago.  They looked delicious.  Maybe it's in the recipe threads?

Hmmm, that's really odd about the smoke. I have a Phillips and we've done a couple different kinds of chicken (wings, legs, breasts, etc). Never once has the smoke alarm gone off; we haven't seen so much as a wisp of smoke. I do pat the pieces a bit dry with paper towels right before I put them into the fryer; maybe that would help? I thought the wings would put out smoke, to be honest, but nothing.

@catlover

Try putting a little water in the bottom to keep the grease from burning and smoking.  HTH.

Yes, as mentioned-try a little water to catch the grease in the outer basket. I put my AF close to the oven hood and put the fan on when I use my AF.
