CARDAMOM powder what do you use it in ?

I bought some a while ago, but I do not know  what to use it in.

I rarely bake or cook from recipes; and that is where I usually see it

So I am not familiar with it at all.

What are you making with it?

I am no chef, just an every day cook.

Thank you.

It's a spice you use for pound cake and donuts...

You can think of cardamom like you would cinnamon in both savory and sweet recipes. You can use it with cinnamon or instead of. Curries, stews, cake, cookies, pastry, teas etc.

Sugar Cookies with cardamom added is one i like especially with a nice cup of tea but your tastes matter here.

Take a whiff and see what comes to your mind.

Googles " recipes with ground cardamom" and see what inspires you.

I used to use it in a recipe for a Swedish Christmas bread.  Love how it smells.  It reminds me of my grandma.

Hi @Flatbush    Cardamom is what I consider a Warm spice - Reminds me a lot of Autumn, and, is often used in Pumpkin-ish recipes.

And, a little cardamom spice goes a long way!

Also, cardamom tea is delicious.  Even more delicious is Chai tea, of which cardamom is one of Chai's several key ingredients.

It is a very comforting flavor/fragrance. That sounds like a yummy bread @JeanLouiseFinch. 🍞 😋

That tea sounds wonderful too, @JoyFilled Warrior ☕️

I haven't had it in my pantry or used it for years... but I used to use the actual seeds. I'd make cardamom seed/warm milk to help sleep...if was so calming, and delicious. I've looked for the actual seeds in stores but only see powders. You can find the seeds online. It's always been pricey, but those seeds did last a long time in my cabinet.

I feel like I've been missing out and need to go buy some cardamom now....

Hi @amyb   If all else fails, Penzey's might likely have them.  They have a bounty of Spices!

Also, Middle Eastern, (even local) Ethnic Stores might carry them also.  I buy a lot of my different products, esp different foods, in whatever Ethnic stores.

On occasion- I will use cardamom in something called golden milk --it has cardamom , cinnamon, nutmeg, fresh turmeric/ginger in milk that is simmered for a bit. It soothes your mind  before bedtime. and lord knows, I need all the soothing I can get---Woman WinkI add honey to it and it is a very nice drink---I use the pods and smashed them just a bit. Very prominent in Indian cooking too. In lots of sweet things too.
