I've been lazy about baking lately. I even bought hamburger buns this week, lol even though I usually make them also. I need to make a batch of dinner rolls for the freezer.

@jaxs mom My sister says I have way too much time on my hands if I have time to make hamburger buns. Shes does not have time because she has 3 grandchildren living with her she takes care of.

LOL well small children are a lot of work. But baking yeast breads isn't hugely time consuming as you know. Most of the time spent is rising and we don't have to babysit that.

@jaxs mom Well that's true. She just retired earlier this year but still not retired. She only gets about 5 hrs sleep per day. If she sits down she falls asleep. She's busy dealing with the kids plus non-stop laundry, cooking & house cleaning.

I think she's so exhausted because her Vit D level is virtually non-existant per her doctor. I keep telling her she has to take it every day. She did not realize she was going to have to take it every day to keep her level up.

Baking?  Nothing, it's too hot to bake.  Even with central air, the kitchen gets hot with the oven on.  I just make quick things on the stovetop.

@PinkyPetunia It's hot here too. We have had100°+ temps almost every day for over a month. It did cool down to the 90's while I was baking but we had a little rain so it was miserable humid. I just turn the AC on 70° until I'm finished. That way it just runs non-stop. LOL!!!

Another one who does not use the oven in Summer. Usually stop using it in May and don't start up again until probably mid Oct or when it's 60 or below outside. I do make small loaves of bread in my perfect cooker. I also made brownies yesterday in my perfect cooker. This would be the cooker I purchased from Q that Blue Jean Chef sold.

I always bake our breads and rolls, including hot dog and hamburger rolls. Garlic-Parmesan rolls are decadent. I make foccacia, our own pizza dough, sticky buns, etc. Homemade is so much better than anything we can buy. Extras are always frozen for those busy nights when we may have nothing more than soup, salad, and a yeast roll or two for supper. And I usually have my sourdough starter on hand, too, for sourdough English muffins, biscuits, and yeast rolls. Sourdough bread is simply delicious.

This summer, however, I put my starter in the freezer back around June and will keep it frozen until around the beginning of October. I've never frozen my starter before, so I'm hoping I haven't killed the thing.

It is rare for us to buy bread or rolls. I'm not saying we never buy, but not very often. And yes, even in the heat of summer, I will make bread.
