@HP in NY    There are bread machine recipes online.  Just Google it.  You don't need to buy a book.  All the big manufacturers have their user's manuals online too.

Bread Machine Magic, Revised Edition by Linda Rehberg and Lois Conway. The revised edition has all the recipes the original has but the original has recipes for 1 or 1 1/2 lb & the Revised Edition has recipes for 1, 1 1/2 or 2 lb loaf. All the recipes we have tried have been really good. You can get a copy on Ebay for $5 or less.

I also downloaded a free PDF of Beth Hensperger The Bread Bible.

CRANBERRY WALNUT BREAD (BREAD MACHINE)

This one is great for the fall and winter

Ingredients:

  •              Put ingredients in bread machine in the order listed:
  •              1/4 cup water
  •              1 cup buttermilk at room temperature
  •              1 egg beaten
  •              1/1/2 tablespoons of oil
  •              3 tablespoons honey
  •              1 teaspoon salt
  •              1/4 teaspoon baking soda
  •              1/4 cup ground flax
  •              1/2 cup old fashioned oats
  •              1 1/2 cups bread flour
  •              1 1/2 cups whole wheat flour

-              optional: substitute 1/2 cup buckwheat flour for 1/2 cup whole wheat flour

  •              1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
  •              2 1/4 teaspoons active dry yeast
  •              3/4 to 1 cup sweetened dried cranberries - roughly chopped
  •              1/2 cup chopped walnuts (that's about 7 whole walnuts)

Add all ingredients up to the cranberries and walnuts to bread machine in order listed. Set machine for 1 1/2 pound mixed grain setting. Turn on machine.  After 20 minutes, add the cranberries and walnuts. Store in plastic bag after cooled.  Keeps up to 5 or 6 days.
