This mundane yahoo news was poof worthy? Someone is very overly PC about news.
One more try.
Counting down till someone is offended by it and it gets poofed again. Or maybe they just like the taste of pink slime.
It's not over. Looks like they're not going down without a fight!
snip:
"Governors from three meat-producing states today defended Beef Products Inc., the company that makes lean finely textured beef, which now-former USDA scientists nicknamed "pink slime".
The governors said that the treatment the product received in the media was unfair because it is not only safe, but also nutritious and allows grocers to sell leaner ground beef at a lower cost.
"It's beef, but it's leaner beef which is better for you," Iowa Gov. Terry Branstad said. "We take this off the market then we end up with a fatter product that's going to cost more and is going to increase the obesity problem in this country."
**************
The audacity! Beef 'scraps' [without saying just what they are] and leaner beef?
**************
"a tour of the facilities where beef scraps, mostly fat and connective tissue, are processed. The scraps are put through centrifuges to separate the fat and then through pipes, where they are spritzed with ammonia gas before emerging as a pink mix that is then frozen and sent all over the country".

Scraps, mostly fat & connective tissue. They forgot to mention spinal cord. um ...leaner beef?

That's a politician for you. Certain kinds of 'ground beef' around here is around $5.99/lb.
That's plenty high enough for ground beef without adding 'scraps, connective tissue, fat & spinal cord. That's not keeping costs down, that's gouging for mediocre & questionable dog food passing it off as ground beef.
They should label the pkgs if they continue the practice: "50% nutritious pink slime with ammonia added-for your health and to keep your cost low".
See, they were adding it in and doing it all for your benefit !
