Re: Best way to store Spinach?

My favorite refrigerator storage containers are FreshWorks by Rubbermaid.  I so wish QVC would have them.  Be sure your produce is dry before placing in containers..Best to not wash beforehand, as well.

Re: Best way to store Spinach?

I do the same as @Sooner with spinach and celery leaves and the skimpy stalks...freeze to throw into soups etc.

For spinach and lettuce I put into a Lock & Lock with paper towel ,turn and store upside down in my crisper.

Re: Best way to store Spinach?

I don't fuss with mine with paper towels, etc.

I buy the organic in the plastic containers and then just place it in the refrigerator crisper. Always keeps nicely for me for the week (5 or 6 days) where I eat salads for lunch.

One thing I have learned, though, all lettuce, including spinach, likes to have the crisper all to themselves. Don't put in carrots or onion or anything else.

Re: Best way to store Spinach?

I just came from the grocery store.  They had the Rubbermaid FreshWorks containers on special, so I got the large and medium sizes.  I hope they work.

For me only can say for romaine & iceberg lettuce is to wrap paper towels around it and put it in a debbie meyer green bag not tightly wrapped. I can get 2 weeks out of it but don't know about spinach. I only wash the lettuce when getting ready to use it. Also about every 4 days check on the lettuce to make sure no moisture is in the bag if so then I inside out the bag & reput the lettuce back in it. I am the opposite, love cooked spinach with ham or bacon than fresh but we like what we like. hope this works for you

It also helps to not wash it until you are going to use it.

I would basically agree with this.   You can wash it but if you do, be sure to lay it out and get it completely DRY before storing it away.

Storing produce dry is pretty important if you want/need for it to last a while.

I just wanted to add to make sure you are buying the latest dates possible. That may be half the battle right there!

I remove it from the bag and store spinach in a Lock N Lock.
