Re: Best cool thing I've learned on this board lately -

I have seen butter at stores frozen, but it's always the sweet butter that's wrapped in foil. I buy the butter from Ireland, Kerry Gold, from grass fed cows. Healthy and delicious-never tried freezing it but I guess I will. I remember grating butter when I needed it softened in a hurry. I still do it since I dislike nuking anything.

Re: Best cool thing I've learned on this board lately -

Coming to the end of my first year posting here, I enjoyed meeting so many lovely folks. The other category-- well there's always hope they'll come around. Some things I've learned about: Blue Dawn and its many uses; the KIND bar recipe; the Air Innovations humidifier; and, what's going on the QVC shows without spending the time to watch or DVR. Some things are now so ingrained that I don't remember that I learned about the product on these boards -- Burt's Bees hydrating cleanser, AHA swipes, TIPS, etc. Merci beau coup!!! Happy Holidays!!!

On the forums I have received tips on gift giving ideas, also how to streamline Christmas celebrations due to budget. I have liked some of the recipes posted etc. I don't go or stay on many of the threads that tend to get negative because I just don't get that. I like some of the beauty ideas and it seems that regardless of the beauty question, Paula's Choice is always a product mentioned as being good and frankly I had never heard of that brand until reading about it on a thread.

Speaking of freezing stuff, when I buy celery, I always used to have some go to waste. Now I just chop it and put it in a ziploc bag and throw it in the freezer. When I have a recipe calling for it, I can just grab a handful and put it straight into the pan with onions or whatever is being sauteed. Same goes for onions and green peppers, they freeze well too. Not only do I not waste it, but it's a great time saver not to have to chop the stuff up on a busy weeknight. I wouldn't eat them raw after freezing, but they are perfect for cooking.

Re: Best cool thing I've learned on this board lately -

To my everlasting amazement at what I see here, I have learned that food must be the biggest control hot button on the planet. LOL!!! WHO knew?

People are downright HOSTILE if they find out that you didn't chomp down what they gave you and LIKE IT! You are an evil and insensitive person if you dumped it in the trash can (just ignore that rash or breathing difficulty or clogged arteries it might cause--EAT IT!).

If you don't like what they like, they don't want to feed you. And on and on it goes!

I am simply stunned. I don't care what people want to eat. I don't make judgments about them because of that. I don't care if I give them something and they pitch it out either. I had NO idea!

I am so distressed I may have to go eat a can of Campbell's Mushroom Soup (the high fat and sodium one) COLD with a plastic spoon to inoculate myself from all the bad vibes! {#emotions_dlg.devil2} Oh and I can dip it out with Popeye's Spicy Chicken too. . . Chickenbutt--I'm sending you a King Ranch Casserole made with the first half of the Mushroom Soup (I'll eat the rest) and some cat hair. You'll LOVE it!!!!!

Sooner, better idea. Let me sent my neighbors little kids over to help you cook your meal. You wont be properly inoculated if you don't do it right. {#emotions_dlg.laugh}

I just bought a few pounds of butter to put in the freezer. You know the only way for the price to go down on it is for me to stock up on it. does anyone wish for a TV show to get cancelled? I'll make it a favorite of mine and you can thank me later when it goes off the air, lol.

You made me laugh! I thought it was just me! I'll send the kids back with the casserole! I got involved in some "serious" discussions in other threads, then the whole things started to be funny and I had to laugh about it! Grownups arguing about food gifts!!! Oh well, it is good we can step back and laugh.

You need to watch the Bold and the Beautiful for me and really LOVE it when the Quinn character comes on! Now get right on that! LOL!!! (It's all on the tv entertainment thread and we are SERIOUS about those characters!).

I cannot remember where I learned this tip but it has changed my food storage forever! Whenever I purchase fresh berries I rinse them in a solution of water and vinegar. The vinegar helps to kill any mold spores. Be sure to allow the berries to dry THOROUGHLY before placing in fridge. I can get close to 10-14 days cold storage with this method.

CB--You are gonna be clucking like crazy when I tell you YOU CAN JUST THROW THE CARTON in the freezer and it will be fine! We do it all the time. We don't keep it in there forever, but for a month or two, it works great for us.

The most valuable thing I learn here is that not everyone thinks exactly the same thing I think! WHAT a shock that was! {#emotions_dlg.devil2}

I do the same thing. It's wrapped in paper and in a thin box here too. Never a problem. I wouldnt waste time vacuum sealing it.

I also freeze cake mix boxes when they go on sale for use later. I usually put 2 boxes in a large freezer bag and pop in the freezer.
