Re: Best air fryer consensus?

To follow up -- I ended up getting the CE 5.3 qt that was the TSV back in December.   I love it!  No issues getting the basket in/out like the reviews state.  Loved it so much, as did my Granddaughter for the food I was making her in it that I bought her one for Christmas.  She could not have been more excited LOL!!

@momtochloe, I know this is an older thread but I wanted to give a quick update on my Paula Deen air fryer peeling issue that I mentioned here.

I have her original 3.5 qt air fryer, with the black ceramic nonstick coating.  After the original coating started sticking and then peeling, I got a replacement through the warranty service.  Taking your good advice on not ever spraying oils directly onto the pan, I really babied the replacement basket.

Well, the replacement basket has given me the same poor results as the original one.  Food started sticking, followed shortly by the appearance of tiny silver specks, where the black nonstick coating was peeling off.

I decided to use the warranty service one more time on this fryer, and get a third basket.  When it starts to fail, that's it.  I'm not going to invest any more shipping and handling dollars into this fryer.

I hope everyone else is having better luck with their assorted air fryers.

Before long I'll probably be on the hunt for a good one!  :-)

@SHOPR; getting caught up on threads.  I have Emeril's air fryer & I love it!  I have some of the non-stick wearing off around the top edge of the pan & never sprayed the actual pan, nothing serious; as much as I use mine, I consider it wear & tear.  I use mine at least 4 times a week with just DH & I.  I will be getting the larger size soon.  I betcha there will many vendors releasing new & improved options.  Bottom line; what an amazing machine!

@BornToShop,  Yours is wearing around the top and mine is peeling in the bottom where the food touches.  How strange.  I use mine probably 7-14 times per week.

Re: Best air fryer consensus?

[ Edited ]

@momtochloeand everyone, When looking over on Evine at the current air fryers, I'm seeing that the 4.2 qt Cook's Companion air fryer says newly improved with ceramic coating (not sure how I feel about the "improved" based on my ceramic experience) and has something called a crisping insert.

Just curious to know if anyone here has the crisping insert and how you like it.  I don't know if I missed it in the past, or if the crisping insert is also fairly new, because I haven't been following all of the air fryer versions closely.

It looks as if it is dimensional, not flat.  I wonder if that would possibly help prolong the life of the nonstick surface, having less "surface contact" with the food.  Thoughts?

@SHOPR wow, this is the first I have heard of these inserts . . . I looked them up on Evine and unfortunately they do not have a video for them as I wanted to see them in action so to speak.  After reading the reviews, it sounds like it is a replacement for the bottom of the basket that has had peeling issues.  Most of the reviews are positive but the last one is clearly not happy with this product.  It sounds like if you have had serious peeling issues this may be a good choice to extend the life of your air fryer?  Man I wish they had a video uploaded . . . Smiley Sad

Re: Best air fryer consensus?

@momtochloe, I have finally read most of the reviews for the CC 4.2 qt fryer with insert and reviews for the s/2 inserts, and I've found at least 2 or 3 that mentioned that their insert was peeling.  Perhaps it isn't going to be a better solution after all.  How frustrating.
