Beef Liver...such skinny slices...

Probably not many people like liver and onions, dh being one of those too, but I do enjoy it.

However, all the liver I have seen, in the grocery stores, come frozen and in very thin slices.

I remember frying thick almost steak like pieces. Is anyone else seeing this? Or are you able to purchase the thicker slices?

I talked to the butcher, but he said that's all they have.

I LOVE liver with onions and bacon........I buy it at Omaha Beef so I always know it has not been sitting there awhile. It does come frozen but they are like steaks and 1 per person is plenty. They are individually wrapped and I bought a dozen 2 (?) years ago and

they hold up wonderfully...........I forgot they were in the freezer.........tonight's dinner !!

By the way, they cook from frozen and the liver takes around 5-6 minutes.

I see you posted at around 3 this morning.....it is now 4 in NJ. I hope you are up because you want to be......and not because you can't sleep.

I love liver and onions if it's tender, and I prefer thin slices vs thick slices.

I'm also a big fan of chicken livers.

It is not the liver people love-it is the fried onions. SInce I am a vegetarian I eat no meat. As a child I forced to eat meat and I would gag at the table.

Try eating liver plain w/o a lot of flavorful ingredients.

Awful memories of childhood and being forced to "clean my plate".

I do like liver and onions, but order it at one of two favorite restaurants.  One is a high level French establishment known for its minimal portions, but their liver meal has always been substantial with numerous slices of thin-cut meat. Equally good for the liver (but not all the extras) is another popular local spot.

Never liked my own liver anywhere near those 2 sources, and since I so rarely eat it, I am never the cook.

OH------GROSS!!!

My mom , dad and brother would eat that  but my mom would allow my other brother and me to have something different--made me gag to be in the same room when she cooked that. Still does---Just awful!!!

Re: Beef Liver...such skinny slices...

My husband likes liver and onions. I do too but not as much as my husband.

We have not seen it in grocery store for quite awhile. Not thin cut, there has been nothing.

A local restaurant used to serve it on a regular basis. And my husband always ordered it. Then they stopped putting it on the menu. I think there was a change of chefs. After several years it is back on the menu. I think the original chef (owner) is back cooking again. He has had a hard time finding chefs.
