Beautiful cookware from FOOD & WINE™ at HSN

[ Edited ]

This line is apparently a new addition to the kitchen lineup at HSN.   All of it is extraordinarily beautiful, in my opinion.

I caught an early showing of that brand and just received the 3-piece baking set.  Was specifically looking for a better muffin/cupcake pan, and this came along with a super-large baking sheet and bundt pan.

Great quality,  hefty in weight, and the muffin and baking sheet pans are packaged  in a beautiful dark blue box that would make the set an excellent shower or housewarming gift.

Not everyone's oven will be large enough for the baking sheet, so check measurements if you plan to order.  My former Kitchenaid wall  oven would not have worked with it.  My GE Profile easily holds it.

Was glad to see instructions included about "seasoning"  the pans before their first use.  So many nonstick cookware items sold these days do not emphasize the need to season them first, so of course the finish fails badly and soon, and customers get unhappy.

Thanks for this @novamc1 as I caught a couple of their shows and their stuff looked great.  You made me laugh about whether the baking sheet will fit as many years ago we brought home a take and bake pizza from Costco and it was too wide for my mom's oven.  It was a shock when I opened the oven door and realized we needed to do some editing.

I also want to thank you for always pointing out that even non-stick pots and pans need some attention in order to ensure their full life cycle.  You have taught me so much and I so appreciate it!

I just looked (593-242) and I am going to wait as there is just one review and it's not great.  2**

Bundt Pan Coating Flaking off

I purchased the Blue set which is beautiful, seems sturdy, great size , however , the Bundt Pan finish on the underside is flaking off and lifts readily off if I scratch it with my fingernail. I have not used the pan but unfortunately my husband placed the packaging out for recycle or I would be returning. The coating on the other two pieces seems to be intact. Disappointed , I purchased it primarily for the Bundt Pan to replace my 40yr. old one.

We can always find negative reviews everywhere about nonstick cookware.

The bottoms of pans are definitely going to get scratched if scraped across  grates on a gas stove or scraped across an oven rack when inserting and removing them from the oven.

Aside from some factory defect that shows up right away, by far the biggest reason for nonstick cookware beginning to fail, is misuse

I read all instructions that come with the cookware,  which include preseasoning before first use, cooking with lower/medium heat only, heating pan before adding any oil or food, and keeping out of the dishwasher.

Nonstick isn't perfect, and fortunately, we don't have to use it for many things.   I personally only use it for cooking eggs, certain alfredo-type pasta dishes containing lots of cheese which can burn, and for baking muffins.

Stainless steel, good-quality ceramic or Corningware casseroles, and enamel-coated cast iron are great for most other kitchen jobs at my house.

Reynolds nonstick aluminum foil or parchment paper are great helps to line baking sheets if easy cleanup is a goal.  I love the Reynolds nonstick foil for  lining stainless steel or aluminum baking sheets when roasting vegetables or toasting bread or oven-cooking bacon.
