I too save my bacon grease! Kept in a glass jar in the fridge, just like my Gram taught me.

No, I don't eat bacon much and always wipe out the excess in the pan before I cook in it again. Just not my cup of tea  (or fat)Woman Wink mostly for health reasons. I remember my grand parents-in-law, had a cast iron fry pan full of bacon fat and fried eggs in it--kind of grossed me out ----

Nope. We eat way too healthy to use bacon fat. I don't even consume bacon! Yuck.

@gulf coast girl  Your use of it makes me want to save mine.  We only have bacon when we make BLTs, but then I cook the entire pound and leftovers get added to recipes, snacked on, or cut up for the dog.

Can't imagine cooking cabbage, kale, collards, green beans, fried potatoes & onions or navy beans without bacon grease.

I strain it and keep it in a Mason Jar in my kitchen cabinet (Never in the fridge) - next to the olive and vegetable oil.

Been keeping it that way for years, and as someone else said, I'm still here. Smiley LOL

I am never without bacon grease.  I keep it in a glass jar in the fridge and use it to season every type of bean I cook, fried potatoes, potato soup, pea soup, cornbread, corn muffins, dressing for lettuce and onions, fried cabbage, fried turnips, always fried deer tenderloin in it, make gravy with it, etc.

I save my bacon grease in a bacon grease container that I store in the fridge.  One the container gets full, I throw it out.

I use bacon grease occasionally, and not too often to cook with.  I am an olive oil cook, unless I need the bacon grease for flavor.

Re: Bacon Grease

[ Edited ]

Not a bacon eater these days but when I was I threw out the grease and blotted the heck out the cooked bacon to get rid of most of the fat. Nothing like bacon fat to clog up your arteries.

The only time I use bacon grease is when making bacon and eggs. Cook the bacon, remove most grease then using same pan leave just enough so eggs don't stick.

Identical to @Etoile308. Once the eggs are done, I use paper towels to wipe out the pan.
