@Mz iMac My mom and both grandmohters kept it on top of the stove also.  She used is so ofen it never sat around long.  I had a "friend" that like me just for my mom's cooking!  Believe it or not we are still great freinds today!!

@Mz iMac I actually always left mine out until I read that after a week or so the little bit of bacon in the mix could make it go bad.  that's when I moved it to the fridge.  If I ever bothered to strain it well, I'd leave it out.

Yep, I save it in a grease keeper and store in the fridge. Have done it for years.

i make bacon several times a week and i do save the grease.

its one of the few proteins my mother doesnt mind eating.

i keep it stored in the refrigerator in a silicone "pig."

i like using it for fried/sauteed potato dishes, eggs, some soups (especially soups with beans), cabbage, and more.

I save bacon grease and store it in a Grease Can first on the stove and then into the refrigerator.  I cook with it some.

If my dog doesn't like you, neither do I.

I don't even remember the last time I had bacon at home, as opposed to eating out, so possibly keeping the grease is a non-issue.

HOWEVER .....  last week I was looking at salad oils and saw packages of BACON GREASE, for sale in the grocery store.  That was a first for me.

I never have and rarely have bacon but I made same potato soup the other day and cooked some bacon and it said use some bacon grease to sauté the onions.  So I did.

Told my daughter as we were doing the soup about growing up and my friends mother always saved the bacon grease and she made the best fried chicken.

I rarely cook bacon but I do pour the grease into a small glass jar (from relish or jam) and keep it in the fridge. I add it to canned green beans or when I cook cabbage.
