BUTTER: Best price at Costco

I saw a thread last week about the price of Butter rising out of control & I noticed my local Trader Joe's brand of butter suddenly went from $2.99lb to $3.79. But, Costco has their butter going for $12.29 for 4lbs (appox $3.07lb). Theirs is good quality butter at the best price I've found in my neighborhood.

Re: BUTTER: Best price at Costco

I got it for $3.49 at Aldi and I'm happy with it - I really just use it for baking. For myself I used unsalted whipped butter, and a container will last me 3-4 months.

I did check at Sam's last week; I don't remember what the price was, but it wasn't as good as the Aldi price. Hopefully there will be sales around the holidays and I can stock up, as I use several pounds a month.

Thanks for posting this. I've been meaning to pick some up at Costco, but keep forgetting. Is there a reason for the increase in butter prices?

I rarely buy butter and was SHOCKED at the jump in price! But found at Walmart this week a Great Foods brand 2 one-lb packs wrapped together in cello for MUCH less ...can't remember the price, but I was EXTREMELY please. And I'm cheap. lol

I read an article about the fact that it's the drought that has caused a rapid rise in food prices, overall. The manager at Trader Joe's told me they weren't even able to get in certain produce like grapefruits because of the drought. He said they weren't even able to get it in from South America, let alone California. Dairy is no different. It's a life cycle, the drought is a problem on every level.

Quality of the butter is also important to me, Costco and Trader Joes quality far exceeds the others, unless I decide to buy Kerrygold or organic.

I love Kerrygold butter. I get it a Costco also. I did also pick up unsalted butter at Costco this time and put some in the freezer for baking.

I also use the Costco butter and have been pleased with the quality and the price.
