With all this talk of bread machines, I decided to get one. I never got one back when they were popular and had been thinking about it. So I got a Cuisinart CBK-100. Didn't want to spend as much as a Zojirushi costs. Got it Friday. Today I unpacked it, washed it and got my bread flours out to make a nice whole wheat loaf. Read the book, got everything in the machine and was all ready to go when I realized I forgot to put the paddle in. Took everything out trying to keep the yeast dry. Got the paddle in and re-installed the ingredients. I'll be surprised if it turns out OK. It's making noises so we'll see. I've copied and saved all of your recipes. Thanks.

My loaf of bread was a total failure. It came out a hard, dry, crumbly blob. The house smelled wonderful, the dogs loved it and a little taste I got was very good. I'll try again tomorrow.

I made a nice-looking loaf today but am going to send the Cuisinart back as there's something wrong with it. The timer won't reset to "0", so you have to do a timed setting whether you want to or not. I called their CS and they suggested I return it.

I recommend the Zojirushi brand. I have the small and the large, and they are excellent machines.

Me too santorini! I cannot recommend them more highly, they are the cadillac of bread machines. I have the one with the pan south to north. My daughter has the the one with east to west pan. She like mine better. . I have had mine for 13 years, after owning 2 previously. I used to use the machine more, but still use it once a week. You can make any kind of bread, jam, dough. I even used to make the grandkids play dough!

op,

I also highly recommend Donna Rathmel German for bread machine recipes. She is the all time favorite, and actually the first to come out with bread machine cookbooks. Try amazon. They are 10 dollars or so. She has one for specialty breads, wheat free, gluten free, sugar and even yeast free breads. I am sure you can find many soy free breads. I never use soy. Most commercial breads use it because it is a cheap filler.

Try the jams in the bread machine! They are excellent, and an easy way to use up summer fruit.

I also own the large Zo, and everything I've made in it has been excellent (even the first loaf!)

I only/always use King Arthur Flour BREAD FLOUR, & also ONLY use SAF Red Instant Yeast brand (you can read about both these products at the King Arthur Flour site). I keep my yeast in a glass container in the freezer, & just scoop out what I need at the time.
