Just read that shipments from Mexico, the primary producer, have been stopped. The reason has to do with inadequate inspection and cartel pressure. Current shipments are in stores so you might want to stock up. They can be frozen.
I checked my local Walmart and they're selling small ones for 56 cents each, just right for one person.

I eat avacado, orgaonic arugula and spinach salad every day.

I'm not eating any produce not purchased from my local farmers market or grown in my neighbors garden.

I don't eat them. Can't stand them in fact.

@SilleeMee I don't know as I like them but I get terrible excema when I eat them. I have been highly allergenic to so many foods most of my life and yes avocado is one of them. It's ok on that one as they don't taste like much anyway and if not perfect can rot very quickly as well. Have you ever tried a large Florida avocado? Same not much flavor but they keep color only a bit lighter. It hits my fingers with excema, always has. At least they are pretty to look it upon opening.![]()

Sorry about your eczema. Yes, avocados have little flavor, just mushy texture. I've never eaten the ones from Florida. Last time I bought an avocado was to make a facial mask. It turned out good for that.

Im from Florida. Don't eat the Florida avocado, the big s ooth green one ts a whole different species than the Haas Avocado dark green/black bumpy skin one from Mexico ( ans possibky California?) which are superior..
If the Haas becomes unavailabe for an extended period, I'll buy Florida species under duress
I had NO idea you can freeze them.i will have to look up methods. Thanks @Kachina624

ha, ha, yes that's cute. So nah, they are out. It's so weird,
even apricot jam or even a belgian juice broke me out on my hands, deep inside fingers. Oh......the top of my feet I can almost bleed because I itch to death almost.
Bottom line, I call myself a delicate flower (others see the same things on me hahaha). Just so odd, I can't stand it
my friend but such is life.....what can I do other than live with it. My food choices are very limited indeed and I envy those who can eat anything. ![]()

I love them and eat one almost every day, sliced with a little salad dressing. The doctor recently told me my potassium was high so I cut way down on them.

What will all the Mexican restraunts do for their guacamole? Will it disappear from menus? I always get a side of it to put on my enchilada, tamale, quesadilla, taco.
