Re: Are you fussy about eggs?

If I could buy them fresh from a neighborhood farmer, as they are the best thing ever, I would, but eggs are eggs and buy whats on sale.

Re: Are you fussy about eggs?

@house_cat I have noticed the difference in eggs. The cheap price eggs don't come out fluffy when I make scrambled eggs . I 've been buying EB eggs and placing  about 1/4 tsp. of margarine in the eggs while I beat them. No other liquid. And they come out as my Dad called them like the look of popcorn. And a great flavor even without salt or pepper. And very nice and fluffy. And they claim they are healthier. But no eggs should be used as dunking eggs, with the yolk under cooked.

Re: Are you fussy about eggs?

I only buy my eggs at our farm markets that come from the local farms in the area. I think nothing of spending $5 for a dozen. I always support our local farmers.

I like Eggland's Best.  I get them for about $3.79 for 18 eggs at Sam's Club.

Re: Are you fussy about eggs?

I buy eggs at a local market that has them delivered fresh.  I buy large brown eggs at 37 cents per egg.  I don't use alot of eggs so I usually only buy 6 at a time.

[ Edited ]

I'm not terribly fussy and I generally buy average eggs at a low price.

I do also have a neighbor with various egg-laying birds and at times I get them fresh.  DH would not eat those if he knew so the exchange has to be surreptitious.

I really don't find a gigantic difference, though the yolks can be larger in the very local ones.  Sometimes the size of the egg itself, depending on the layer.

There certainly is a difference.

The price varies depending on inventory.

I've paid as much as $5 and as little as $1 for a dozen, never disappointed.

Here in Alabama, there are probably more chickens than residents.

So do I.  Plenty of hens in Wisconsin too.
