For the past couple of years, I've been spending a lot of money to buy eggs like these ...
This week, I was at Smart and Final and they had eggs on sale ...
I couldn't resist the bargain and I bought two dozen.
Yikes! I was shocked at the difference in size, color, texture. I'll use them for baking, but won't be buying them again. It was pretty clear to me that there's a reason for the price difference.
Can you justify paying top dollar for eggs or do you buy whatever is on sale? Do you notice a difference?

I buy mostly local, free range directly from the farm.
There certainly is a difference.
The price varies depending on inventory.
I've paid as much as $5 and as little as $1 for a dozen, never disappointed.
Here in Alabama, there are probably more chickens than residents.

I really don't like eggs but, of course, buy them to use in baking or recipes that call for them. As long as they're reasonably fresh, that's all I require. I surely wouldn't pay $5+ for a dozen eggs.

We get our eggs from Trader Joe's--jumbos when they have them. Never pay more than $1.99 for a dozen. How do eggs differ????

I am very fussy about eggs. I want the best eggs and the best treatment of the chickens.

I love eggs, but I only buy the regular priced eggs. Can't imagine spending $5 for a dozen eggs. JMHO.

Not really. However, before I purchase a carton of eggs, I check to make sure there are no cracked eggs and they are within the expiration date. Hmmm...does that make me fussy?

Free-Range eggs are all that I buy, for all uses.

Forgot to mention (and I think I've mentioned this before) Free Range and Cage Free are not the same thing. You must buy Free Range!!

I am VERY fussy about my eggs. I have chickens as pets, so I tend to use their eggs. However, I do not eat the chickens themselves. Go figure. Anyway, my chickens are completely free and roost on my porch at night. The difference in the quality and flavor of their eggs vs. those purchased in a store is amazing.
