Are Chocolate squares and chips an even exchange?

I have a recipe that calls for 8 squares of semi-sweet chocolate (8 ounces). There is any reason I should not use 8 ounces of semi-sweet chocolate chips in place of the squares? The recipe calls for the chocolate to be melted.

What is good for the goose today will also be good for the gander tomorrow.
