I'm toying with the idea of taking a cake decorating class; I'm a terrific baker, but never got into the "fancy" stuff - it's all homey things that just taste great. I've seen so many cakes that look so pretty though, and apparently fondant is used to decorate them. I checked out the ingredients that go into fondant, and I can't see where it's particularly appealing, but....
Anyway, have any of you used fondant to decorate a cake? Do you think it adds to the flavor/appeal, or is it just for looks? Is it hard to work with? It is work taking a class to learn how to use it? I don't recall ever having eaten it....
I guess I'm just looking to do something new and different.
