I use my electric pressure cooker often, and mainly for meat, and soups. Last week I pulled a large chuck roast out of the freezer to thaw. After letting the meat thaw on the counter for about 3 hours, I cut it into large pieces, dredged it in seasoned flour, and browned the still frozen meat in the pressure cooker. Once it was nice and brown, I covered with sliced onion and beef broth, and cooked on high for one hour. The meat was falling apart tender when I took it out of the cooker. I turned the cooker on high for one minute to get the broth boiling again and added my slurry to make the beefy onion gravy. Only one small piece of meat was left over, and I put the gravy in the freezer to use for flavoring another dish later.
I can make a quick potato soup in the pressure cooker. Cook my potatoes and onions in broth on high for 3 minutes, reduce pressure, remove the lid. Add milk, heat to boiling and add slurry to thicken. It takes longer for the cornbread to bake, than for the potato soup to cook.

I use my pressure cooker just about everyday. Rice, sweet potatoes, cornish hens, bean stews, warming up muffins. I use my pressure cooker more than I use my stove.
If your PC is still in the box, you are really missing out on some DEE-LICIOUS cooking. IMHO, a PC makes everything taste better!

I'm a sucker for every new counterpoint appliance that comes along but my pressure cooker is by far my favorite. Not only is it a fast way to prepare a meal, but you can cook a tough cut of meat and make it fork-tender.
I started off with a stove top model many years ago and still have it. Then I graduated to an electric and OMG I was in love. Probably the thing I've cooked most over the years is chicken and dumplings. The dumplings are the big, fluffy, biscuit type which you can easily make from Bisquick or from a scratch. Very quick and delicious.

Thanks so much for the replies. You all have given me hope that I can do this, ![]()
My mom had one when I was little and it was a scary thing to use. They're so much easier to use now so I'm checking the links that were listed for recipes and I'm taking it out of the box, l

I would not be without my electric 6 qt pressure cooker. One of my favorite things to make in a pressure cooker is my Baby Back Ribs in Beer. I posted the recipe today in the Recipes Forum. I always make soup, Hard Boiled Eggs, Pulled Pork etc, my very favorite appliance!

Wondered if other use one and do you like it.
Hello @Nadine! Your question couldn't come at a better time. I wanted to share that the Blue Jean Chef - Meredith Laurence - will be hosting a chat on 4/6 all about pressure cookers. It's a great time to ask questions and share your favorite recipes. In fact, she has a cheesecake recipe on there already. Click here to see it> Pressure Cooker Chat

Oh my goodness @Nadine please take that InstantPot out of the box and enjoy! It is so easy to use you literally don't need the manual and I know you will be pleased with the results. I just made split pea soup with the ham bone from Easter and it is delicious and so easy.
I am hoping to join the chat that Eva-QVC mentioned to maybe learn more tips from PC fans but I truly hope you give your InstantPot a try very soon. Couldn't recommend it more! ![]()

Nadine did you try the pressure cooker yet? How did it turn out? I think we are all curious. Just get it out & experiment. I finally did with mine after it set in the cabinet for a long time.
