I've had the Cuisinart for years in fact I just used it on a can of tomatoes to make spaghetti sauce.

Can anyone tell me how good this good...does it really smooth out foods,  such as a veggie  soup.  I make a broccoli soup, and also a red pepper soup that I have to cook, then put in my blender to sort of puree it ...then all back in the pot.

Would an immersion blender work as well?

Yes it does.  I do both soups all the time.

Bought my Cusinart stick blender @BBB for $20.  with accessories.

And, I prefer my stick blender over my Vitamix.  Also, takes up little space in my kitchen drawer.

Just blend in your pot.  There is no need or hassle to transfer soup to blender then back. And less cleanup too.

Good luck.

Re: Anyone use Immersion blender?

I have two of these.  I use my Cuisinart Smart Stick for smaller jobs (it's actually a smaller appliance) and my All Clad for bigger jobs like soups.  There is a big price difference, so if you are only planning to use it for drinks and dressings, you can get by with the Smart Stick.  I used to use my Smart Stick for everything, but eventually the soups got the best of it, so I now only use it for mixing jobs (vs emulsification jobs.)

The more expensive brands are generally longer too, so if you are making a soup in a tall pot there is plenty of room to keep your hand above the rim of the pot.

That's a good idea! I just recently bought a Braun, & I've only made homemade mayo so far (insanely easy, & SO tasty!)

We love ours and use it daily.  I especially like to make rice pudding: 6 mins start to finish (heats in microwave).

We have one.  We love it.  Made some potato soup with chunked potatoes.  Blended it right in the slow cooker.  Came out smooth, creamy and just wonderful.

Re: Anyone use Immersion blender?

Got the Braun delivered today!!   I'll use it tomorrow to make my red pepper soup....thank you all again!   I got one with the whisk, and the large cup included.   This is a great alternative from pouring back n forth in my blender ...lot of work saved.
