Anyone have a tried and true sangria recipe?

I really enjoy sangria, but rarely make it at home. Do you have a tried and true sangria recipe? Both red and white welcome.

Me too. My daughter loves sangria. I never made it though. Would be nice for summer sitting outside and enjoying the weather on a nice evening.

Re: Anyone have a tried and true sangria recipe?

My dad's recipe for red, and a cucumber-melon white

1. Red Sangria

1 bottle red wine (Dad used Gallo Hearty Burgundy. I use Yellowtail Merlot-cabernet)

1 orange, washed

1 Granny Smith washed well

1/4 cup Triple Sec or Cointreau

1/4 cup brandy (California brandy is fine)

2 Tbs sugar (you can sub simple syrup if you like)

Slice lemon, orange & apple thinly.

Mix liquids, add fruit. Let macerate, a few hours at least in fridge.

Serve well chilled.

2. Cucumber Melon Sangria

1 small honeydew melon
1 seedless cucumber, thinly sliced
lime, thinly sliced
12 Mint leaves
1/4 cup lime juice
1/4 cup honey or simple syrup
750 milliliter bottle Sauvignon blanc or Pinot Grigot, chilled (I use Chilean Sauv or New Zealand Tohu Sauv Blanc)
1 liter bottle carbonated water, chilled
Mint sprigs and/or leaves (optional)
Directions
  1. Cut the melon in half; remove and discard seeds and rind. Cut melon into thin slices. In a large pitcher* combine melon, cucumber, lime slices, and the 12 mint leaves. In a small bowl stir together lime juice and honey until combined; pour over melon mixture. Add wine, stirring gently. Cover and chill for at least 2 hours.

Sangria recipe from the Columbia Restaurant

Ingredients:

1 bottle Spanish red wine (any red wine)
¼ cup Spanish brandy
2 tablespoons lemon juice
2 tablespoons orange juice
1 tablespoon sugar
1 cup club soda
1 sliced lemon
1 sliced orange
2-3 whole cherries

Mix all ingredients in a large pitcher. Stir with a wooden spoon until well mixed. Pour into large wine glasses. Garnish with orange slices and cherries. Add ice to pitcher. Serves 4.

Bubbly Sangria
1 1/2 cup orange juice
2 Tbsp triple sec
1/2 cup brandy
1 bottle (750 ml) fruity red wine (the cheaper, the sweeter, the better) Smiley Happy
3 tbsp sugar
2-3 cinnamon sticks
lemon/orange/lime or even strawberry, pineapple, whatever!
1 1/2 cup chilled lemon/lime sparkling water

You’ll want to mix the first six ingredients (hold off on the lemon/lime water) and stir. Next up, cut the fruit into slices; add to liquids.

Right before you serve it (after letting it steep for awhile or right after mixing everything), add the lemon lime sparkling water – this is what gives it a slight fizz. So good!
