Anyone Cooking on their Traeger?

I have a 4# rib roast on the grill.   Followed the Traeger recipe calling for 450 deg for 30 minutes and turning it down to 300 deg to a finish cook of 130 deg.

Basic kosher salt top.

Also have a pan of sliced potatoes cooking on the top.

Just basic.

There are other brands of pellet cooker/smokers; we swear by our Pit Boss.  Its like suggesting that Apple is the only option for phones, tablets; we prefer Samsung.  That said, DH uses our Pit Boss 3-4 times a week when weather permits.

My DIL is a Traeger girl LOL.  She loves it and uses it all the time.  I believe she has steaks planned for tomorrow.......yum.  Her food is always delicious.

Re: Anyone Cooking on their Traeger?

My dinner WAS delicious!!!!!

Rib Roast from Costco,  Sliced potatoes in the cast iron pan on the grill and steamed fresh brocolli with home made cheese sauce.

Now that's enough food for the entire day.

Boy it was good.

I really like the taste of a wood pellet grill, to me, much better than charcoal.

Re: Anyone Cooking on their Traeger?

Hickory &  Maple from ACE Hardware

Signature Blend from Costco.   30#  19.99

Red Meats gets the hickory and signature

Maple for chicken and turkey

When I got the grill, I bought them all!!!  That was just crazy, all the 5 gallon containers marked, changing the pellets out, well it was all new to me, now I stick to those 3.

What do you use???

DH is making bbq chicken wings on the Pit Boss.

He buys B&B brand pellets at Academy Sports. He uses the Championship Blend a lot which is a mixture of pecan, cherry & oak. He also has some mesquite, pecan & cherry.

He made ribeyes last night. We will have leftovers from both.

Re: Anyone Cooking on their Traeger?

@Just Bling I don't have a Traeger but my nephew does ( along with a Green Egg, andWebber Kettle too wow). I was thinking maybe pellets would be a good gift for his up coming birthday. I think I'll get him maple. Thanks apparently one can't have too many since different proteins can use different flavors. I'm drooling.
