Re: Any vintage Pyrex collectors here?

Like the above poster, I don't consider myself a collector. Let's just say I do seem to have amassed more than a few pieces. IMO, there's nothing like original pyrex for durability, either. I especially like the glass percolators, and have them in various sizes/shapes. I think they look nice on the stove, too.

Last fall, DH and I were at a large antique shop. We'd gone our separate ways around the place, then I spotted him, very still with his hands in his pockets, staring at something about 10 feet in front of him. Sure enough, it was yet another Pyrex pot{#emotions_dlg.biggrin}. He was probably wondering if he should tell me lol. As it turned out, I already had that style!

Your neighborhood antique mall is a good place to start your Pyrex search. No shipping and reasonable prices in most cases. I've been roasting in it my whole life, I'll buy a new piece every once in awhile. I just went and checked, the brown is Pyrex, the cobalt is Anchor Hocking. There is also some Corning Ware, but I usually just use the glass. Habit, I guess.

Re: Any vintage Pyrex collectors here?

I'm not a collector, just have the stuff from when I got married in '78 along with some that were my mom's.

I did pick up 2 sets of pyrex nesting bowls at an antique shop. $40.00. I kept one and gave one to my D-I-L. Love these bowls!! Now that my daughter moved out, she'd like a set too, so next time I hit the flea markets I'll look for a set. I pretty much see them at every flea market/antique shop I go into.

Re: Any vintage Pyrex collectors here?

Yes, House Cat,

I am a collector, too. I can't think of how many times I have reached for my set of graduated Cinderella bowls thru the years. When my first husband and I went our separate ways, I let him have the set. I have missed them so much these past 12 years, that I have started to collect them myself, along with corelle, and corning ware. I spend a lot of nights when I can't sleep, looking at ebay for these items too. I have one very special piece of milk glass but would love to have some jadite. I use my stovetop corelle coffee pot every morning to make my coffee-it is the white pot with the cornflower blue flowers and makes the best, truly hot coffee. Doubt I will ever go back to a coffeemaker again. I have a huge collection of vintage Pfaltzgraff Yorktowne pattern that I have collected over that past 30 years, too. Happy to "meet" another collector of at least one of my houseware addictions! Happy hunting! {#emotions_dlg.biggrin}

I have a couple of pieces that were my mom's and grandmother's....I won't part with them. I am still looking to replace a large bowl that I used constantly for mixing things. I should check eBay! Thanks for bringing this up!

Re: Any vintage Pyrex collectors here?

I have some old Pyrex bake ware, never give it up. I have given my daughter several large bake ware items all Pyrex that I have had since the 60's. I kept the smaller Pyrex ware.

the item I fall back on is 1 cake pan 9x13. I have no idea who made it. I got it when 1st married. It is a metal pan. not dark metal. it fits into my counter oven nicely. heats evenly, even after all these years (40+++) years. I love that pan and it is my usual go to pan. I wish I could find another one of these bake pans.

No, but I have seen Pyrex called Tally Ho that has fox hunting scenes on it. As a horse owner and lover, I would love to have some, have seen it on eBay. The problem is I can only find it in the UK - the pieces are not that expensive, but it is the shipping that puts the pieces out of reach money-wise.

Re: Any vintage Pyrex collectors here?

Yes, definitely Love my old pyrex.!!!! I have a few larger pieces but more of the smaller sizes. 1 1/2 qt. round and oblong. and a few of the tiny square ones. I frequently store my leftovers in these....Although I have newer plastic containers such as lock&lock, I find that I prefer the old pyrex most of the time!!! They are easy to clean, and there's just something about using them that I enjoy............I like old things. I have accumulated these over time, from antique fairs, estate sales etc,.

I love the vintage Pyrex, Fire King, and Corningware. They were made well and in a time where things made in the USA were prime and people in factories took pride in their work. I feel they are work horses in the kitchen....tried and true...and stand the test of time. Lots of good memories of with these old pieces too Smiley Happy

Re: Any vintage Pyrex collectors here?

I hope Luna shows up here, because she has amassed a pyrex collection, bar none I have seen!

The pyrex pieces I have are old, very old. 40-50 years old. I inherited those from my MIL. I have learned , like Chickenbutt not to put them in the microwave or dishwasher. It can etch the glass because they are so old. But the main reason is I love them so much, and don't want to loose them!
