We don't use the filtered water dispenser inside the refrigerator or the ice maker in the freezer.
We use a reverse osmosis system. There is a facuet on the sink plus I keep 2-3 gallons in the refrigerator.
The fingerprint technology on it works. No fingerprints or smudges. I clean with a microfiber cloth.
It has freezer on bottom.
We have 2 refrigerators. The old one is a 23 year old Whirpool still running.
Don't buy an LG with a Linear compressor on it. Online it says they still use it on some refrigerators? Google about their lawsuit.
Kenmore was also making their refrigerators with the LG linear compressor. It says they no longer use it. We almost bought an LG until my SIL told us about her LG nightmare?
I did look at reviews before we bought our appliances. Most are not good. I had to take a chance we would receive working appliances.
@Nightowlz I really appreciate this information! That will be helpful! Mom's old Amana fridge was still going more than 25 years when we sold her house.
It is discouraging isn't it to read and read and not find really good news? We use our ice maker and water filter in the fridge door (not the one in the bottom), but we also have a filter under the sink counter and another ice maker. We are big iced tea and ice coffee people in this house! ![]()

The reviews were not good on washing machines, stoves, refrigertors. People should not have issues on new appliances.
With the refrigertors a lot of reviews said they were noisy. Also most had issues with the ice maker.
I keep 4 ice trays in the freezer using the RO water. DH doesn't use much ice. I drink water all day. It has to be cold.
My MIL's refrigerator is 50 yrs old still running?

We have a Jenn Air French door refrigerator. In the twelve years we've had it, there haven't been any problems.
It's not a big deal for us to bend over to use the freezer.
All of our kitchen appliances are Jenn Air and they have been problem free.

We have a Kitchenaid that we bought when we built the house 24 years ago. It had one issue early on (we were told it was a "known issue", but it wasn't covered by warranty???).
Anyway, it's still going - a side-by-side and I hate that, but until it dies, I'm not replacing it. When I do, I'll likely get a Bosch.

@Sooner wrote:Looking at a new fridge soon, so any thoughts are appreciated! We will probably do a French door, freezer on the bottom, and are looking for one that is quiet, and nicely made on the inside.
We are thinking about an LG, or something along those lines. We have a Electrolux that came new with the house, and have had no problems for 8 years, whew!, but not crazy about the inside of it.
Thanks for any advice or likes and don't likes!
I have the LG freezer-down, fridge-up and I loved it when I first got it but in the past 2-3 years my back has become an issue and freezer foods seem to need more going through and hunting things than fridges and now I am wishing I had a separate, small upright freezer or had the freezer up and fridge down but "up" freezers do not seem to have as much freezer space as the ones on bottom. I think it's your choice. Just telling you I loved my down freezer until my back quit liking it. Mine is an LG. It's 18 years old and works fine. Every now and then I have to unplug it from the back and let it "cool down" for 30 minutes, nothing thaws, and plug it back in. I have no idea why but it starts defrosting if I don't. After one service call when it was in its infancy, I learned that and have done it subsequently. My neighbor has a GE and has the same thing and hers is the opposite, freezer up and fridge down. She said her serviceman told her all those in recent years are like that, unplug to adequately "cool down," and not even they knew why when he told her but the ones he has serviced are like that. We had different servicemen (for the record).

Last month had to replace fridge and purchased an LG. French door, freezer on bottom. Very pleased with it, roomy inside and also very quiet.

Whatever you do, don't buy a Samsung. The delivery guy taking it away said that is the most popular one he removes. The ice machine broke so early on ours and it was never able to be fixed.

@Sooner. Remember this fridge? I never got one but always love the idea of swiveling shelves. If it was on the market today, I'd buy one in a heartbeat.

@ahoymate wrote:Freezers on bottom? Only if you seldom use the freezer. Bending over to search or store items, not for me. Prefer freezer on top.
French doors? Not for me. Prefer a one door. Good luck.
@ahoymate I like the freezer on the bottom because I don't want to do a lot of bending. I open the refrigerator section waaaay more often than the freezer so I wanted the refrigerator on the top. The freezer section is a pull out drawer with two pull out levels inside. So even when I go into the freezer, I'm not really bending much. I had the same configuration in a Kenmore that lasted for years and finally replaced it with a Whirlpool in the exact same design. I was so happy that I could stay with that type of arrangement.
