I use mine every day.  When I was working, I would make a breakfast drink in my blender and invariably the motor would die on me.  Even after I got my VM, I continued using blenders just because I was comfortable with them.  When my last one died, I did not replace it and started using my VM every day.  It is expensive, but I probably spent more in the years when I replaced blenders.  I think the expense depends on how often you use it and what you use it for.  If it just sits on your counter, then it is definitely not worth the money.  If you use it like I do, I guess it is.
