$30 steam mop at Aldi's book report:

I've never owned a steam mop before. I have a 'faux' wood plank floor in the kitchen. I get weird greasy spots, (dog related?). The swiffer doesn't really work and I have to get down with the scrubby sponge.

Anyhow, you will need a Phillips head screw drive to put the mop together. There's only two screws. It comes with two bonnets, a carpet glide thing, a little water cup,  a pin to clean out lime deposits,  and thorough instructions.

I was up and running in short order. As soon as it's plugged in, it starts to get hot. There's a red light in the front. It makes steam in about one minute.

It's quiet! No chemicals, just water. I'm embarrassed to tell you how filthy the bonnet was after doing half the floor.

You're not to put the bonnet in the dryer, so i scrubbed it by hand and put it in the sun to dry. The bonnets are microfiber with a drawstring. It looks easy to sew some new ones up.

It didn't leave any puddles. Next time I change thet bedsheets, I'll use it to freshen the mattress.

A thumbs up for the Aldi's steam mop!

I'm going there tomorrow to see if mine have their version of a Food Saver and it would be great if one of them (I am willing to go to all three in my area) would have a steam mop still in stock . . . thanks for the review and the reminder!

Be careful if you have a laminate floor.  Many manufacturers suggest not using a steam mop on them.

Lacey, thank you for the review!  I picked one up the Saturday they were first available.  I used it the same day on two floors.  I concur with everything you said!

It gets a thumbs up from me as well!  Before the circular came out, I was going to get one from Wal-Mart for $40.  I'm glad I waited.

mtc, good luck with finding the Food Saver!  Please pick up some Gouda Potato Crisps while you are out.

Honey, I've been thinking of other ways to use this steam mop. I'll run it in the bathtub, and steam block sweaters. Next time I go to Aldi's, I'll look for the hand held steamer, if there are any left.

I might put a few drops of vinegar in the water tank.

Hey good news!  I finally got the ads for this week and the Aldi's by me does have the food saver . . . I'll hit all three, hopefully one of them will have that and if possible the steam mop.

Thanks for all your help ladies, I really appreciate it!

You just gave me an idea, Lacey!  I'm going to see if steaming will work in the divets in my bathtub.  It might be easier than trying to clean it in an awkward position.

mtc, that is awesome!  I'm sure the first one you go to will have it!

Done and done my friend! . . . I got both of them at the first store I tried (my store has more than doubled their "Specials" area so I think going forward they will be stocking more things in deeper quantities).

It's still a no on those Gouda chips but I did buy Turkey and Stuffing Kettle Chips from Trader Joe's . . . delicious!  Especially dipped in their Cranberry Sauce . . . tee hee!
