I want to buy an air fryer for my daughters birthday.

I dont have one so I am not familar with them.

If you were to buy and air fryer after using one, what would to want or not want?

There is only daughter and her hubby, what size do you recommend?  Also, I would like one (I think) that comes with some extras.

TIA

We have the ninja fryer and love it.I will say though I could have used a bigger size at times. When just cooking for two it works but when I have guests it is too small for a batch of fries.I have cooked and reheated in the machine and so far no failures. We really like how salmon turns out...just salt.pepper and a little brush of olive oil.Preheat fryer for three minutes and then put salmon in skin side down.Done in under ten minutes.

I have a Kalorick that I really like. It is the regular full size --not the mini or the XL. This is the size that I would get. In fact, I purchased the same one that I have from my grandson.

Check the warranty on them. I wanted one that had a one year warranty..(at least). Most of them only have a 90 day. Decide on the extra's that you want: double rack or baking pan and if it comes with a recipe booklet or not. I find that these booklets are great to get you started and then you can find a cookbook or recipes on line. My model is a manual dial but it has the 8 suggested temps/times on the front panel. The preset models seem to be a bit more $.

I know there seems to be a lot of talk about the coating flaking off. I have found that I don't have a problem with this model and I use mine at least 3 times a week or mre.  Stick to your budget. I found my best deal was at Kohl's w/coupons  but BBB, HSN,QVC, Best Buy have them as well

I love this thing. It's my new toy in the kitchen.

I got one from BBB and took it back.  It was only 3.7.  I don't like clutter on my counters, so I put it in a cupboard.

It was pretty heavy and no place to grab onto it.  When I got it out of the cupboard, I decided it was not for me.  Too heavy for me to handle every time I wanted to use it.

For me, size was the issue.  I'd rather have it a little bigger.

@Imaoldhippie I have a Philips air fryer that was on sale at Costco with the manual dial. I love the way it cooks and use it often. Great for making roasted brussels sprouts. Cheeseburgers are juicy. I marinate boneless, skinless chicken thighs in teriyaki sauce and use the rack so that I can do two levels. Thick pork chops are juicy and browned. The only issue I have is the metal basket that is difficult to clean. I've torn up a few Campanelli sponges while cleaning the basket. I don't know if you can put it in the dishwasher, but maybe I should check and do that instead. Anyway, if I get another one, I'd probably want a larger one with a nonstick basket. However, I'm concerned about the nonstick coating coming off.

I heard Curtis Stone say that he's working on an air fryer now, so I'll definitely be interested in upgrading to that one. Philips is a great brand, and I love how simple it is to use, but the basket is driving me crazy.

The best one I found is the Power XL from Kohl's the 5.3 QT. Size the pan is gold and doesn't peel. I've had mine for about 3 years and I really find it so handy. I use it 2or 3 times a day.

I could have written the exact same thing.  I only use my oven now if I bake a cake or batch of cookies.  My air fryer is also from QVC--Power XL --3 1/2 qt.  (sold by Eric)  Love it.  (cook for just myself)
