Re: APRIL 2017 is here for What's Cooking

New barbecue place opened up last night - kind of strange as they were suppose to open a good month or so ago. They were open one night but the city stepped in - something about permits. Do not think it will go over well as there is no place to sit inside - you have to sit outside and it is all concrete. Our weather gets to 100 plus a lot higher and that is going to be way too hot. Did go over and get some pulled pork sandwiches last night - kind of pricey and their slaw was gross - really bad. We shall see - I was really excited to see it open but just not sure it will make a go of it - especially when it gets hotter. Also will ONLY be open Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights from 3 p.m. to  6 p.m.?????????? Kind of strange in my opinion

Am taking the little girl to San Bernardino to say her goodbye to her paternal grandpa who she adores. He has gotten a great job promotion with Amazon and is headed to Colorado tomorrow a.m. at 6. She will miss him and he will miss her. So we are meeting in a park up there for an hour or so then I am headed back here with her to get some eggs colored. He only had a three day notice. WOW!!!!

Going to be warm here today - or so they say. Hope all are well - dinner tonight is a ham of course - tomorrow the little ones head back to San Bernardino for an Easter Egg hunt at a friends home - they will probably stay with Sherry and Matt for a few days. Miss them when they are gone.

@Winifred  A barbeque place opened nearby a few years ago.  the sides are great, but the ribs are not succulent, so not cooked properly, but it did come in handy when we were without a kitchen for six months, so did the Chinese place and sushi place all next door to each other.  the sushi is the best I have ever tasted, and the best restaurant of all three, but we usually get take out here.  It is the meal I chose for my last birthday dinner. Smiley Happy

Re: APRIL 2017 is here for What's Cooking

Wonders never cease. Rob, a young man bachelor perhaps in his 40s loves his beer. Always a very heavy drinker BUT he is also an outstanding cook. He has a good job and works every day but I sense He is a lonesome man. He had a lady - former neighbor - move in with him for about 2 to 3 years - that went down the drain. So I periodically return his doggy which escapes. At any rate I was very surprised - he brought over some great barbecued corn on the cob AND baby back ribs. I had a ham cooking and potatoes to mash but the ham will be put in the Fridge /Freezer. Decided to eat what he brought over - how very nice of him!!! Wish I had known so I would NOT have cooked the ham. It will save!!! I had fixed mashed potatoes so went ahead and ate them with what he brought.  Still not sure how he survives with the amount of drinking he does but he is super nice - and I enjoy chatting with him. He lives in a converted garage - small - and he keeps it immaculate and has a HUGE yard for his puppy to play in. Feel sorry for him as he NEVER sees his children any more - I find that extremely wrong for any parent to be denied their children and he is NOT abusive at all. His ex just got super angry when he met up with the former girlfriend and she did NOT forgive him for that. How dumb.

So of course I did not fix dinner and it looks as if I will not fix any for some nights to come. LOL

Re: APRIL 2017 is here for What's Cooking

Ham sandwiches for dinner tonight. Surely no one is surprised that was on my agenda. LOL.

Very tired and have a breathing test to do first thing in the a.m. Not a good time I suspect but must do what I must do.

Hope all had a marvelous day.
