Re: A graduation gift? Dont think so

@QVCkitty1   Me too, I don't think they even had student loans when I went to college.  Parents paid the whole bill and I got a nice watch for graduation.

Re: A graduation gift? Dont think so

I have come to believe there is absolutely no way to predict whether someone will like a gift or not. I spend much less time choosing something these days.

Re: A graduation gift? Dont think so

My best "gift" was to leave home.  I had a unbearable step mother.  She was never in true form around my dad.

Re: A graduation gift? Dont think so

Nothing.  My parents paid a lot of  tuition for me to go to school for grades 1-12, plus I went to beauty school after 10 grade all summer long and on Monday nights

By the time I graduated from HS I was almost done with my beauty school.  I was fortunate my parents were very generous.

A year later, they paid for my wedding with over 500 people in attendance.

Re: A graduation gift? Dont think so

Don't remember what my gift was for H.S., probably a small gold necklace.  My parents paid for everything for my State University education ( tuition, books, dorm, sorority and clothes).  In 1966 that all came to $9000. For college graduation they gave me $300, which was enough to pay for a used VW when I worked in Germany.  I've been grateful for having an easy go of it.  I started working school breaks and summers when I was 16.

@PickyPicky3 I have a 100 percent successful way:  ASK them!  If you get "anything" get a gift card.  If something specific, get that.  Otherwise, don't bother with a gift.

It isn't 1960 and things are very different now.  Needs and wants are different, people are different, so gifting is different--except that a gift is about the recipient, not the giver!

Re: A graduation gift? Dont think so

i got cash.

As for what they suggest as gifts I take everything they say with a grain of salt. They are just filling time.
