One of this week's specials is Peri Peri marinated fresh chicken. Peri Peri is a hot and flavorful chili pepper sauce from Mozambique. The package makes 2 large servings or 3 smaller. At $3.79/pound, it's a little pricey, but by the time dinner was over we agreed it was worth it. It is hot, so make an accompanying cooling side dish. A salad with blue cheese dressing worked fine.

Aldi is a love it or hate it place. I'm a big fan.

We're big fans of Aldi, however with the two recent recalls of flour and ground beef we have decided to stay away for awhile.

I prepare a version of this dish at home on my gas grill.  I am able to cut down on the heat factor from the arbol chiles.  We eat it over rice.

@deepwaterdotter , We also put it over rice. When you make it at home, do you marinate the chicken or just brush the sauce on before cooking?

I marinate the chicken and dry-roasted peanuts in a covered container overnight in the refrigerator.

Ground beef as well? I buy the organic. Wonder if includes that kind.

I wasn't aware the ground beef recall involved Aldi as what I checked didn't involve them?

If it is hot or spicy, I'd love to try it. DH ate a jalapeno from our nachos last night and literally cried so I don't serve him spicy food.

@AuntG, sounds like DH is not a fan of hot and spicy. I can relate.

I looked at the Aldi website recall list and saw the flour but not ground beef. However, I was concerned about the frequency of recalls -- about once a month.

Does anyone know how that compares to the large supermarkets?
