Re: A Potato Chip Mystery

@PickyPicky3 @The pressed down seal that closes the bottom of the bag came apart. The bag is made this way by machinery. No big deal. They show this type of bag making on How It's Made and similar shows.

I once shut a cupboard, thereby pinching a chip bag against another item, and it popped its top seam.

@PickyPicky3
Twice this summer I have made a mess in my IGA store with products I was taking off the shelf to put in my cart.

The first mess was a 2 lb plastic bag of brown sugar that was not sealed on one end.  How it was actually placed on the store shelf without noticing the open end is beyond me.

My second mess was when I pulled a loaf of Sara Lee bread, which had no twist tie on it, and half the slices in the loaf fell out on top of my feet!  Again, how did the bread man transfer that loaf from the plastic bread tray to the shelf without seeing it was open?

Bags of sugar are poorly sealed as well, and I've seen them open and spilled on the shelf, but so far I haven't dumped one yet!

What a group! Thanks for the great answers. I guess chip manufacturers make their bags very well if this happens so rarely.
