Re: 60 dollars for 6 TeeVee dinners?!?!??!?

[ Edited ]

Alright already!!!! Mea Culpa!!!!

I forgot QVC is the channel that now sells 150.00 hams and 200.00 PieCaken....and 75.00 dollar meatballs....

So please be easy on me!!!!

ANd YES I know "cheap" is not "better".

But I know when I'm being played too

Soooo....today I plan to invent and market a two-cookie package that can be used for dessert after a 10.00 pouch dinner....and I will sell it for 15.00 a packet. You can save money and time as opposed to baking your own cookies, or opening your own bag of Oreos!!!!

And..sorry- but fyi...6 shrimp and two asparagus can be steamed or cooked in the SAME TIME It takes to cook a pouch in boiling water, and will taste better than ANYthING that comes out of a microwave!!!! And YOU know what's in it. Add 3 cents worth of rice and you're set!

You went to the store anyway this week....right?

And....You can use the 30.00 dollar rubber bands to "seal" your packages of shrimp and rice and asparagus for other meals another day!

Re: 60 dollars for 6 TeeVee dinners?!?!??!?

@Pook  I feel like you, but still cook most of my meals and love to do it.  But I do love to have some prepared dinners on hand for when I don't feel like cooking.

I have tried these dinners, and I thought they were pretty awful, but a bit healthier then regular frozen dinners.  I don't mind paying for something I end up liking, but I should have known better than to buy something that needs to be cooked in the microwave.

Re: 60 dollars for 6 TeeVee dinners?!?!??!?

Meal delivery kits like Blue Apron are now a HUGE business so there's a lot of folk who no longer cook.

In fact, so big that many grocery stores now offer similar kits already prepackaged and ready to cook at home. Amazon is considering this too since they acquired Whole Foods.

For me it's a meh. I still cook.

@Othereeeen  It came with broccoli.   If you want asparagus, you have to add it.

Re: 60 dollars for 6 TeeVee dinners?!?!??!?

Imagine a meeting at QVC with a proposed food item....say, my cookie idea. ( two ordinary cookies pushed as a special dessert item for after your 150.00 ham dinner).

They put the item in the center of the conference room table, and the top guy says....

"How much can we push ( er, sell) this item for? We'll have to dress it up to make it seem special or unique......Let's try "These cookies are made with love, have natural ingredients, and it'll be SO EASY to tear open the packet...and you can save one for later if you want!"

Someone else points out : "We can get "Chef" Tony to hawk it!!!! And...we can wrap them in different color plastic packets!!!! They'll go nuts!!!"

Sunday ITKWD show comes on, and the cookies are featured...layed out on plates, with coffee, on Temptations platters...and along the front row, all the cookies in packets of different color plastic wrappers...

David: "People are loving that these come in all these colored packages! Starting here...we have sea blue, grass green, daffodil yellow, this one is maroon, and this last one is burgundy...the colors are close, and we want you to know the difference!!"

He goes back to the vendor, who offers him a cookie on a plate...he bites, rolls the eyes, and goes into a spasm of twirling glee...yelling "Happy Dance Happy Dance!!!"

"And Chef.....people are loving these are only 15.00 a packet...you get TWO cookies in each packet, and you can get it on Auto Delivery. They will come in the corrct seasonal colors for each season!!!"

"How many have we sold this hour? OK...OK....20,000 packets of cookies in JUST THIS SHOW!!!! "

"And they're...wait for it....Gluten Free!!!!"

Re: 60 dollars for 6 TeeVee dinners?!?!??!?

Yeah, the $30 'rubber bands' are a bit much.   Maybe it's because I'm super neurotic about food storage but I cannot imagine just leaving stuff in a bag and putting a band or clip on it.  Still gonna get stale.  Put it in an airtight container.   Done and done!  Smiley Happy

Some of the gadgety and small appliance stuff they sell just makes me SMDH because it just feels like they convince people that they need these things.    Never been that gullible.    Besides, where do you put all that stuff?  One pot/pan for each type of item you want to cook?   You already have pans that can cook all that stuff.  Somebody once posted a kitchen pic somewhere that showed a bunch of stuff and I thought that if my kitchen were that cluttered I wouldn't even go in there!

But then, hey, we can all spend our money where we want, no?  Smiley Happy    I have to try and remember that what doesn't make sense to me makes sense to somebody else.     No wrong answer, I guess, even though I would argue some of it (not here, for the most part, though).  Smiley Very Happy

Re: 60 dollars for 6 TeeVee dinners?!?!??!?

@Othereeeen.  You are putting a very negative spin on the product to make your point.  A few shrimp and a few asparagus,  a handful of rice?  The truth is I can drive up the street and get a burger, fries and a shake and can easily spend $10. for a lot of fat and carbs.  I'd prefer higher quality, more nutritious food.
