Re: $53 for 12 peaches?! (Pittman & Davis)

You are not crazy. I buy peaches from Walmart. Perfectly pitted and sliced, frozen, 16  oz for $2.86.  Great for cobblers, smoothies, or just plain in a bowl.

I am always fascinated by how much people are willing to spend for Q food.

I would go to the farmer's market if you have one.

Re: $53 for 12 peaches?! (Pittman & Davis)

For several years we have ordered from "The Peach Truck".  They truck up peaches to several areas where we live.   A 12 lb box is now $45.   We picked up this year's  order a few days ago.  We're disappointed.  More than 1/2 the size smaller from previous years and many bruised.  They are still tasty, but not as juicy.

Being in PA, we'll probably start purchasing Chambersburg peaches.  The best peach I ever ate, remember 50 years later, was from the Niagara area in NY.

Re: $53 for 12 peaches?! (Pittman & Davis)

Would I pay $4 a peach? Well not happily unless you could guarantee me that they were fabulous. At a different time in my life I lived in NC and worked in SC. In peach season it was fabulous on the SC part of my drive home to drive through the peach orchard area - the peach smell was heavenly as were the peaches. Now that I'm in KS I never get wonderful fresh peaches, thus I MIGHT pay $4 per peach if I knew they'd be fabulous. If only ordinary, definitely not.
