Let's DISCUSS: Judith Ripka late April/early May 2017 visits--what are you getting/interested in?...

I'm kind of going through the motions tonight.  Have been advocating for myself with my insurance company (the "like a good neighbor..." one) after a staged accident a few weeks ago.  I'm such a ridiculously careful driver and this person slid in behind me in a store parking lot after I was -80% out of the space.  I barely touched this person's car (not even a scratch to their finish).  Normal persons would've checked their cars and driven off.  Within two minutes the requisite fake "witness" ran up.  I made sure the cops were called and then the witness disappeared...mysteriously, ha!  Now, the scam is with the $2K "estimate."  So, now I have the driver and the repair shop being investigated.  Photos show no damage.  I'm also fighting not to have my record or rates raised.  What a headache, ugh!  Has anyone been a victim of a staged accident?

As usual, it is JR to the rescue with some retail therapy.  Here's the schedule: Wednesday, April 26 1-3AM Eastern Standard Time (Tuesday, April 25 10PM-Midnight Pacific Standard Time).; 4-6PM EST (1-3PM PST).  Tuesday, May 2 4-6PM EST (1-3PM PST).

What's up with everyone?  I have to say that the recent JRQ LTS have been working me solidly!  Best wishes~Peach

Hi Peachie,

That's it -- no more going outside the house anymore for you!  Smiley Happy

Never been in a staged accident.  Hit only once while parked by a guy who admitted he did it, so I've been lucky.

Since my acquisition of the moonstone cuff in silver as a lunchtime special, as well as the famed tassel necklace, I have purchased only two pieces:  the alternating blue topaz/peridot emerald cut ring (divine) and the milky aquamarine ring (not presented yet) in silver. Haven't received the latter yet.  But who knows -- there are more shows to come and she may get me yet.  The moldavite pieces may snare me.

Please tell your DH that DH and I are going to see the new documentary "Mission Control."  We think of him often.

Sammycat, you gave me a chuckle there, I appreciate that.  I've had a couple of strange things happen drivingwise (back in Illinois, I used to drive 25K yearly) and that "good neighbor" company took very good care of me with little hassle.  Now, it seems they've taken all of the power out of the agent's hands and there's several other layers of accident specialists, etc.  They still haven't allowed my agent to even see the photos.  However, a specialist saw them and told my agent he's shocked at the estimate because there's no damage.  My agent warned that they still might ding my record, though.  I told him after being my only insurance company since I was 21, I'd hate to have to look around at someone else.  I already know I pay more to be with them and I expect top service.  I do believe we are living in a more cruel world today.

You made some fabulous purchases, Sammy!  I have a sick rule that if it is a LTS and I don't already have it, I dive in.  I really haven't regretted it, yet!  That BTOP/PER ring is stunning!  Congrats!  I think it is interesting that JR went for some Moldavite, which is found in the Czech Republic and Ripka is a Czech name for fish.  I know that's her first married name and she's at least part Russian ethnicity she said when she traveled there.. I'm half Czech myself on my mother's side.

Thanks for the heads up on "Mission Control," I know we need to see it.  I will pass on the good word.  DH is in Canada right now meeting with officials about his invention and he says it is going well.  He had to move up the trip after the former coworker who is trying to rip him off (stole his interns and licensed OPLS, but has no idea how to build it, haha) made an appointment for a couple of months from now, when he thinks he'll have one built by the former interns.  DH is not like other scientists who have their interns do everything, he's more the loner type who has his interns do the simple grunt work.while he constantly fiddles with the complex stuff, refining it.  The point is he has to protect the reputation of his invention, while the former coworker who is a salesman type with money from his parents, is out there making wild promises. You know there are a lot of younger guys out there who think they can strike it rich on others' hard work.  Thanks again for the kind words, they really help!  ~Peach

Peachie,

Yes I know of moldavite's origins. I'm part Czech, part Hungarian, part Russian -- sort of a mutt of eastern Europe, LOL!

DH was fuming when I showed him what you wrote about your DH's sleazy former co-worker.  We're both glad everything is going well for him ... there's something to be said for maturity and experience!  Tell him to keep up the excellent work!

And you just stay away from cars and insurance companies, madam. Methinks it's a bad combo for you!  HeartSmiley Wink

Sammy, it's nice to know another Czech, especially since it is a small country.  There's the best Czech museum in Cedar Rapids, Iowa which was dedicated by Clinton and the presidents of both the Czech Republic and Slovakia.  When I lived in Chicago, I took many people there.  There's also a couple of Czech streets left with restaurants and a large Bohemian cemetery.  The Czechs were the most literate group to come to the US and back in the Czech Republic there are 10 times more libraries per capita than the US.  My mother was a massive reader and passed that on to me. Andy Warhol was Czech and also Madeline Albright. I am a Euro-mutt, aside from being half Czech, to the other side: English, German, Danish, Dutch, plus American Indian.  My father's side has been here forever, since the Mayflower.

Do you have any Moldavite?  I have a ring I got on HSN years ago and some pieces from Over There (major auction site).  I'd like to have a sterling JRQ Moldavite enhancer and cuff.

Thanks for the support for DH.  He was excited to hear about the "Mission Control" movie, which we'll track down, thanks.  Trust me, I've been fuming about this guy for a few years now because I could see he was grooming for self enrichment.  DH doesn't catch these things, so I'm always on the look-out for those who take advantage.  The sad thing is that when the rip-off guy fails, he might be taken back to work "...because everybody likes him."  Ugh.  We've seen how far a schmoozer can go, right?  The Canadians agreed to fund, so that's great and nice that DH sees that he doesn't need a frontman and can represent himself.

What's up with you and DH?  Hope all is OK.  I'm still posting NYT comments and got an Editor's Pick last week.  Have you noticed JR is bringing back more and more older designs?  Take care~Peach

Mick, so glad to hear from you!  Tell me what is going on with you, if you can.  Hope you and DH are OK.  He's working at home now, correct?

I don't know about no-fault auto insurance, just no-fault divorce.  I haven't heard about it.  I pray this will all be over in a week or two.  The "good neighbor" insurance company probably just has my letter for a couple of days (based in Bloomington, IL), though I've had everything put on hold from CA.  I will not be forgiving though if they ding me for this and raise my rates.  I've done them a favor in showing them one of their certified repair guys is a rip-off and needs to be removed from their list, also a rude customer service person who hung up (everyone else was perfect) on me.when I questioned the crazy estimate. So much seems to be going wrong in general, right?  Have you felt the need to put your foot in the TV screen?  I have gained 15 lbs which is a lot for me and am now detoxing to get rid of it.  Have lost five of the 15 so far.  Worry weight, of course.

That is a beautiful ring you got, congrats!  Like I posted earlier, I get most JRQ LTS and they have worked out.  Today I received the two-tone cuff that looks like a room divider from the 50s or 60s, those mod shapes, j331580.  That's what it reminded me of the first time I saw it.  Ha Ha!

Did you hear about the loss of Jonathan Demme, the director, yesterday?  Loved all of his films and, don't laugh, especially "Stop Making Sense."

Well, we still have one more show coming up next week... Take care~Peach

Re: Let's DISCUSS: Judith Ripka late April/early May 2017 visits--what are you getting/interested in

@LuckyPeach

Well after I declared that no JR this visit, I stumbled on an hour show with her on Q2 -- live streaming, from 9-10 eastern.  Got the little heart bracelet in yellow (I have very few yellow pieces and am just tentatively dabbling.)

We are doing pretty well, Peach.  I've got a walking boot on because of some ankle tendonitis brought on by my newly straightened out leg from the knee replacement.  The knee was the least of it -- now the aftershocks!  One more week to go on it.

Also am getting ready to submit the first 100 pages of my book about me and my cat (the one with rare double-sided heart failure who lived almost 3 years instead of the 3 days he was given....I still miss him so) to 8 agents who have requested a look (plus marketing/business proposals).  It's exciting and unnerving at the same time, but I have a lot of good support.  I've published before, but more "serious" type works in history and health care. so this is a first.

DH is doing well and expanding his work -- he is web site manager for a county-wide library system in our area.  Perfect for a techno geek and voracious reader!

Check out that Q2 schedule -- I had no idea until this evening that Judith would have an entire show -- in which she appeared, just like on regular Q -- until this evening!

Keep giving 'em h*ll via the NYT!!

Re: Let's DISCUSS: Judith Ripka late April/early May 2017 visits--what are you getting/interested in

@LuckyPeach Peachy - MI used to have no fault insurance....easy peasy....I am sure it discouraged frivolous lawsuits.  I had never been in a car accident.  My bro totalled my car and he had no problems with insurance coverage and the other car/driver.

DH's office lease will be ending in June.  He has been working from home more.....slowly driving me crazy!  We are still working on plans for our backyard and hope to get things moving.  In the meantime, I am busy cleaning the house....good exercise.

Hey, I love that two tone cuff and have it in my WL...it is very retro!  I hope things turn around for you......it is easy to gain and lose weight when under stress...that's life, right??
