Most of the time I do what Judith recommended. I use Windex & spray it on. I use paper towels or a soft washcloth & lightly scrub it. Then I run it under lukewarm water to rinse. Then I dry with a paper towel or soft towel.

I use diluted windex (with warm water and a small drop of dawn) and let the piece soak for a few minutes then brush with a soft baby toothbrush (very gently). Rinse with warm water and dry. I do not do this with doublets, pearls or turq.

I've also done it this way, smarty. And not on opals either...

I use Diamonique liquid cleaner. It works great.

I am wary of the ammonia in Windex reacting with the rhodium plating. So I use Dawn Direct foam dishwashing detergent. Pump a tiny bit on, rub around with my fingertips, and rinse in warm water. I just cleaned my faux leather 16" necklace this morning. I wear it while lifting weights, so it gets really grimy. (Weird, I know, but I have to wear something. I can't be completely jewelry-less).
