i;m watching gem week jewelry and diamonique comes up at a gem week price. since when is diamonique considered a gem?

Years and years ago, a gem was described as being a "natural" stone.  However, thanks to science and techhnology, times have changed and the definition now seems to include things like CZs, Moissanite, simulated diamonds and colored stones.  I even see plastic decorative craft appliques referred to as "gems".
