I like my jewelry small, but I rarely wear any of it.  My favorite earrings are 3/4" Technibond gold hoops that are 1/4" wide (small and chunky).  I like vintage-type pieces with a lot of metal work as opposed to large stones. The jewelry ladies I know generally go for much bigger, bolder pieces than I would feel comfortable wearing.
