I think his jewelry is inspired by his family's look book.  He did study jewelry and grew up in and around the business.

One of his gold rings is exactly, identical to a ring that Tiffany's sold back in the nineties. A few other pieces are so close to Cartier's designs, I thought they were one in the same.

I can see he was in the business and he was inspired, I guess. from some of the more popular design houses.

Just my take on his abilities to design jewelry.Woman Happy

@faeriemoon  And it is NOT all that.  So what if his family/father makes or made jewelry, never heard that before.  I would not spend my money on his stuff, way overpriced for what it is (or isn't).

@PINKdogWOOD  The stone color has never looked that great to me (among other things.)

Re: What's Up with Peter Thomas Roth Jewelry?

i own a number of his rings and a necklace.

some i purchased on qvc and some via his website. he has some good sales if you sign up for emails.

the stones are beautiful , the jewelry is quite modern (which i love),  the weight of the pieces are nice, and the packing is wonderful.

i will definitely be buying more......it is definitely my look.

@chrystaltree  She attempted to do bags and shoes. Most ended up on clearance. Very high prices for the JR name.

@faeriemoon  Since I work in silver as well, I agree. His pieces are mass produced, mine are one of a kind...I'm the only one making each piece and would never think of charging  his prices. Carolyn Pollack's line of silver, although not fond of designs, is more in line as is Or Paz.

Re: What's Up with Peter Thomas Roth Jewelry?,

@Drythe  No argument intended, but no jewelry designs are "new". Bangle and cuff bracelets were worn by Egyptians way back when and hoop earrings in hammered designs have been discovered w/ cavemen remains. Like novels and movies, there are only so many stories to tell. Jewelers tweak an idea, a way to close a bracelet or set a stone, but most designs have all been done before...learned that in my first class 30 yrs. ago.
