@SilleeMee  Tell me more about this stone and where it is from, please. Must be fairly new? I've never heard of it or seen it at my jewelers. Perhaps I need to stop by and see what they have in stock!

The first post of that stone reminded me of some of my favorite tourmalines collected from around the world on various trips, but the other pictures don't appear to be tourmalines. Anxious to hear more info!

Spent the weekend in Omaha and went to Borsheim's, among other places. They didn't have this fascinating and pricey gem!! As busy as they were, it was their loss. LOL

Thanks for the info! That was great. Told me just about all I wanted to know. It IS a new stone to the gem world. Madagascar seems to be the area of so many beautiful gemstones. If I had my life to live over, a gemologist would be at the top of the list!! That entire field intrigues me; always has.

Grandidierite is very rare but not really expensive b/c there's no demand for it. Not enough of it around to bring it into mainstream jewelry stores.
