Re: What kind of gemstone is this?

Addressing the STS mark, I did find a Ceylon blue sapphire ring from Chuck that is marked STS.  It is about a year and a half old.  Coinidentally, he had a big Ceylon show this weekend.  I think Chuck's son works for LC also.

New and no wear, it would run about $300.00 if in silver.  Gold, $200-300 more.

Re: What kind of gemstone is this?

@depglass QVC's ring is diamonique, a man made stone.  I don't see bi-color stones often and thought it was an interesting coincidence it was coming out so close to @gardensla's post.  @gardensla's ring is a fluorite with small amethyst and london blue topaz accent stones.  Fluorite, amethyst and london blue tpaz are all natural stones, but amethyst and topaz are usually heat treated to enhance the color.  Different animals.

The company that owns Shop LC makes jewelry for every shopping channel.  If you know your hallmarks, you know where it came from.

I had no idea about Chuck's son!  What is his name?

I can't believe you got this ring for $5! What a deal. Good for you. Yes, the girls are right about what kind of stone it is.

Did you check the inside of the band for 925 or sterling? I bet it has one of those markings.

It's a beautiful ring. Enjoy wearing your incredible deal.

Fluorite is a soft stone...only 4 on the Mohs scale. So be careful with it.

Personally I would not buy fluorite set in a ring or a bracelet because the stone is so soft and fragile, more so than opals.  Earrings and pendants made with fluorite would be a better choice.

I was just about to say the same thing when I saw your post.
