So many great ideas were mentioned. It comes down to you doing whatever makes you feel comfortable.

OP, I think your idea is a good one.  Removing the rings doesn't mean you can never choose to wear them again, it simply means maybe you think it's time to wear something else.  Personally, I'd keep them just as the are, so that if and when you choose to wear them again, they'll be there, but a nice alternative ring seems like a fine idea. Incidentally, I don't connote not wearing them as being 'single and looking'. Lots of well married folks don't wear their wedding rings or don't wear them consistently.  My parents were married and devoted for many years and neither of them always wore their wedding jewelry.

I think it will be taken by the men she knows as an indication she is ready to date. When you get married the vows say " take this ring as an outward and visable sign of your union" or something similar to that.
