Hello all!
It's April and although it doesn't feel like in some parts of the country, spring has sprung.
We welcome all watch enthusiasts and bargain hunters. We're always interested in hearing about new watches.
This April evine has kicked off its Watch Discovery Month (many brands represented.) BaselWorld has also concluded, so I am sure we will see new styles. I don't know if you've noticed, but I am definitely seeing smaller dials these days and I know that will make some people happy. I am not concerned; i have enough watches to last me two lifetimes.
Here on the Q, I have noticed some really great-looking timepieces, but one I really like is the Eclissi gemstone watch. They seem to do decent watches: quartz movements and water resistance. I wasn't surprised to see Bulova and Caravelle, but I was surprised to see Philip Stein watches--very nice watches.
Someone started a thread about their Karamica breaking. How sad, but it made me wonder what we're to do with some of these watches if companies go belly up? With all the watches that were sold, you would think that SWI would notify customers . Obviously, that didn't happen. I can't tell even tell anyone to send their watch to the Watch Hospital. It, too, is defunct. This is not a new problem, but you have a lots of watches, it is a bit of a problem.

Java: thanks for starting a new thread.
Kachina: great article about watch trends and Baselworld. It's nice to see women's watches are being taken serously. I would be happy to own the first 4 watches, if anyone wants to plan for my next birthday gift. ![]()

Hello ladies. Sorry I've been MIA.
It seemed I missed the buying frenzy with the coupons. No new watch purchases for me lately.
I have been buying house stuff, like a new lawnmower and other stuff. Not as glamorous, lol!
I did sell some of the Invicta dive cases on the bay, so that's a plus. And also a couple of watches. I still need to really go through my collection and sort it out.
Hopefully spring is really here!

Hey all:
Jazzy, good to hear from you! Hope you are enjoying your retirement. Spring's a good time to weed the watch collection and sell on the Bay, I think. Summers are kind of dead. Go deep in the fall and you miss out since people begin their holdiay shopping.
I checked on evine and I noticed two new watches: an abalone Bolt in the women's size and another Disney Lupah for women. This one is not the Baby, but the one that is closer to a Lupah Rev in size. It resembles the men's Disney Lupah in that they rearranged the chrono dials to look like mouse ears. Al though it is not Swiss, it is a very interesting movement. It has a flame fusion crystal and 10 ATM water resistance.
I don't like the price on this. At $219 is high for a Lady Lupah with a Japan movement. Yes, the box is cute, but I think this one is too expensive. ( And I paid a little less for the 36mm Russian Diver with abalone. That at least has a newer design and abalone with an extra strap.) It could be that that both Disney and evine want a bigger slice of the pie. I think the men's version was less. There was something different about the men's. It is the same price, but they are using a Dragon Lupah with an ETA movement. That's what makes it "less."
It's rather sad, one is a paying a lot more and not getting much in return. We were lucky.

Java: Thanks for the info. I'll have to check the new watches out. Just so I know what's going on. I'm hoping I won't be tempted. ![]()

Hi Jazzy. I'm glad you keep checking back in with us. I know you are enjoying your retirement also. It's nice to finally have a life.
If you would have been in here with us and we had those codes at our disposal, I bet you would have snagged something too. None of us 'needed' another watch, but there are times we can't resist buying more. I got 3 that I wasn't counting on. So now I'm done!!! Lol. I've got this bridge for sale also...lol.

Jena: did you see the Bolt 39mm with the abalone dial?
It was a one time only tonight, $139. Nice looking watch. But I have too many abalone dials, so I sat this one out.

I saw it. A nice price. The abalone dial is gorgeous. But two of those is enough. Actually, I could make do with one. Invicta goes through these phases. They buy up tons of material and then proceed to stick on every watch they can think of. I am not sorry that I picked up the RD. I have been wearing it 80 percent of the time. It's a cool design, it's not heavy and it has that gorgeous abalone. When I grow tired of the black strap, then I can swap it out.
FYI: Invicta's catalog calls it "Rainbow." So in other words, this would be a Rainbow Bolt, Rainbow Venom, Rainbow SAN.
What is really driving me crazy is the flash sale on macys web site. Handbags and accessories--40 percent off. Can't do it. Really great prices.
