On MyHabit today, a company called Lulu offered a 1920's Art Deco Bird Brooch for $150 and I was so surprised since I have the very same one!!!
Going through some drawers on Sunday, I opened up a white jewelry box and there it was, that very same bird brooch with a pair of clip on matching earrings. These belonged to my grandmother but had no idea they were from the 20's. Now I'm really doubting they were actually from the 20's since my grandmother would of only been in her late teens and her family didn't have that kind of money to buy anything of value. I'm really thinking these were from the 50's/60's to be perfectly honest. My grandma also did 100% of her shopping from Gimbels during that time and it wasn't until the late 40's/early 50's that the business they were in was quite established and successful.
I don't believe mine were ever worn, the brightness of the stones on both the pin and earrings are bright and bold, no dirt, no missing stones...really pretty.
I love the vintage jewelry although I don't wear any of it but it is sure pretty to look at....my mom has many brightly colored clear bead necklaces and of course there were always earrings to match.
